Ritz Carlton Cancun for Romantic Getaway or Too Much of "Party Place?"

Hello. I am planning a vacation for my husband and I (38 and 40) - we have Ritz points that can be used at any Ritz. Trying to decide which want to go to - want somewhere relaxing with a nice pool - at this point between Laguna Beach and Cancun. Cancun would be great with the beach but the last time I was in Cancun it was college spring break and I couldn't eat any of the food or drink the water. Is it still that way in Cancun? Also is this resort a big family desintation? We have kids of our own and are wanting a getaway Were planning either May or June.
Any thoughts from those who have been there would be great.
THanks!

The Ritz Carlton is a great resort. Cancun is generally lively but it is not always as busy and energetic as it is during spring break.

Personally if you're looking for a more relaxing, quiet destination I would travel on to the Mayan Riviera and stay in either Tulum or Akumal.

We stayed at JW Marriot, just up the beach, in Cancun, not during Spring Break. RC is very nice. Not a party place. We really liked Cancun. Much better beach than Florida.

The Ritz is very nice calm but i think with kids the JW Marriot may be allot better. Cancun is so nice and getting nicer every year.

Just got home from the Ritz Carlton Cancun last week. Had an amazing week (got a trip report going) I totally can recommend the hotel. It is the best hotel/service/staff I'e had the pleasure to interact with. If you need more info let me know...
