Restaraunts in San Jose and Manuel Antonio/Quepos

My Parents are getting ready for a trip to Costa Rica. They are staying for about 8 days and spending 4 in Manuel Antonio/Quepos and 4 in San Jose.

Can someone recommend some of their favorite restaurants? Some can be pricey and other bargains.

Feel free to E-mail me at [email protected]

Hi Anthony,
We spent 6 weeks at a beautiful hotel about 15 minutes outside of San Jose 'Bougainvillea Hotel' in Santo Domingo and their restaurant was wonderful! On Sunday's it was packed with locals who came out after church for dinner. The hotel has acres of beautiful gardens to walk around in. The staff is excellent--and it's our favorite place to stay. Another trip we had two nights at the Grano de Oro in San Jose and the food was excellent there too. The rooms were very nice there too. We would go into San Jose and eat Italian at something like the La Bacon, not far from the Del Ray & Holiday Inn hotels. Where are your parents staying? That will make the difference too. They can always ask the staff.

Costa Rica is not noted for its fine dining but you can get reasonably good fare.
A different experience would be to have lunch or dinner at the Pico Blanco Inn for adequate food and fantastic view.

There are several excellent seafood restaurants on north side of la Sabana Park.

Had the best shrimp meal ever at Jubert's on north end of Quepos.

www.costaricacalling.com

For very reasonable food, the locals will eat at small establishments called "Sodas". The food is simple, plentiful, yet unbelievably inexpensive. They are not fancy by any means, but I never had a bad meal at any of them I ate at. Plus it was fun to mingle with the local people rather than tourists.
