RENT A CONDO IN LOS MUERTOS OR CHONCHAS CHINAS

They're not the same. Conchas Chinas is an area of predominantly condos and villas perched on the hillsides south of Old Town. To walk from there to Playa Los Muertos would involved climbing over several large outcroppings of rocks. Los Muertos has many condos and hotels both directly on the beach and within several blocks of short walking distance. I've seen your other posts. Several good hotels have been mentioned in others' responses; I for one HAVE had 3 good experiences at the Playa Los Arcos Hotel, right on the beach. Also check www.vrbo.com/brbo/mex.htm (there's 3 or 4 listings under Puerto Vallarta) for condo rentals directly from the owners. I've seen several one bedroom and smaller condos listed there. Hope this helps and have a great trip!

www.casa-andrea.com is a small place on Olas Altas. it's not "condos" but more authentic casita style... you get an open air patio kitchen fully equipped, good size bedroom, nice Mexican tile bath, sometimes a back porch (no phones, AC, TV in rooms). offers coffee and rolls in the morning, beautiful swimming pool, it is 1-1/2 blocks directly in behind the pier at Playa Los Muertos. Andrea rents by the week or month. It is a very quiet location, not a party kind of place, but perfect location for the 'stroll' you are describing.

Vince, Is there something specific you're looking for? I've noticed your posting several times now. See previous post under "quaint" PV hotels; among many other places already suggested.

Actually I think above El Dorado may even offer condos. or others on the beach including Playa Los Muertos, Tropicana, San Marinos Plaza, etc. etc.

Yes, I saw a post where he's taken a condo for the month of Oct. at El Dorado, an older condo building on Los Muertos Beach, which is where he wanted to be. I just hope he'll post a trip report after he returns. I've heard good and bad about the building but have seen some nice-looking condos posted on some sites. I think most depends on how the owner has their condo fixed up.

With so many incredibly lovely places to stay in PV, I am continually amazed at the poor choices people seem to insist on making.

And why people post so frequently, then don't take advice given by people who have been there and actually know what they're talking about.

It seems to me that a lot of you people are Canadian and some QUITE RUDE! If someone doesn't know where to stay, and two people suggest the same a place and three more people say yea or nae, then how can this help?
I'm just looking for a monthly rental and upon calling directly to some P.V.hotels, I'm quoted "daily" prices when I clearly ask for an apartment or condo rate. I don't know about all of you, but I for one cannot afford $2,500 to $3,000 for a condo, so maybe I shouldn't go?
On the other hand, I'll keep on hunting. As for the vrb.com/brbo/mex.htm someone suggested, it dosen't work for me. Thanks
Vince

Vince, I'm not the poster who wrote before your last; I'm the one who first responded to your post in this particular thread. I am not Canadian and I am not rude; I always try to be helpful on these boards.

Ref the website I gave out, if you mean it wouldn't go through for you, I posted immediately following that that I couldn't type and gave the correct web; it should be www.vrbo.com/vrbo/mex.htm
If you mean it didn't work for you in that you didn't like their offerings, I'm sorry; it was just a source to go to.
It is very difficult sometimes to make a decision about what to do when going to a new place or an area where we're not familiar with. But as life is, everyone has different wants, needs, likes, desires and acceptability regarding travelling and accomodations. These boards will always have a diverse selection of personalities who have different opinions and there will always be "yea's" or "ney's" to ANY place, property or ANYTHING you ask about. The best that any of us can do is take all the information in, do as much of our own research as possible and then just "dive in" and make a decision and go with it. Sometimes it turns out to be a bad decision, but most of the time it's an acceptable, a good or a great decision.
PV is an extremely diverse place and attracts an even more extremely diverse cross of people. Some like it; some don't; some like the more touristy areas; some don't. It's always going to be that way.
Perhaps, you might look into getting something for one week only, then when you get down there, start talking; talk to everyone you meet; ask if they know of a great and inexpensive place your can spend the remainder of your stay. It's just a suggestion, but if you don't want to get hooked into something you might not like for a whole month, this might work for you.
There's a lot of negative people that frequent any boards, but the most are supportive and informative people. I sincerely hope that you will find something you are happy with, because PV is a beautiful and wonderful place to explore. Good luck my friend.

No I am American. No I would never pay $2500 to $3000 a month for a PV rental. The cheapest hotel I've stayed at is $18US and the most expensive $65US. I am not a negative poster or person, generally. And I love Puerto Vallarta. But it takes a person who can "roll with the punches" to enjoy the town. I don't know how much you have traveled in Mexico, but things often don't go smoothly, as planned, or as you expected.
