Anyone been here to spend a weekend? in late June? We're thinking of leaving San Jose on a Saturday morning...staying just two nights. Possibly Cariblue Hotel. Mom, Dad, teenage daughter...like walking on the beach, birding, interesting wildlife, good scenery, good food. Can just chill and read good books too.

Not in late June, but late May. We have a few short showers but nothing major. It was still beautiful and warm. Cariblue's in a good location. We've stayed at Azania Bungalows next door before and enjoyed it, the cabinas and grounds are really nice. They have bicyles you can rent there and ride to Manzanillo, stopping at other beaches along the way. You can walk to Puerto Viejo from there. Would be good if you could squeeze in at least 3 nights.
Oh yeah, we love riding bikes to Manzanillo and Puerto Viejo both. Just ride with a partner and I'd avoid it at night. We found Azania a good location to walk up the road to Totem Restaurant which was quite good--Italian, I think. Also, La Pecora Nera is excellent--also Italiano.
