Puerto Vallarta Nov 2016

Two weeks in paradise (11/6-20)... in a sweet condo up top of the hill, decent weather warm and mostly sunny with some overcast days, restaurants were busy, the Olas Altas funicular is running, Old Town Farmers Market and Southside Shuffle have begun their seasons, plenty of activities around town, seeing old friends, Zumba classes 2x /day, and one very funny play at Boutique Theater (Rosa de dos Aromas).

Anyone seeking info for a trip to Vallarta, feel free to post here if you plan to stay in Old Town and I will answer if I can.

siempre, Suze

Stewbear:

I have you beat...my family went to PV for Christmas vacation 52 years ago. I was a sophomore in high school.

Have been back many times and the next trip will be in January.

Great to hear you had another good trip!!! Did you stay at selva again? I'm looking to do another trip alone but it will only be 4 nights. For our family trip my husband is insisting on branching out from Mexico. He doesn't love it like I do, but I can't wait for my next one.

hola maried11~ No I stayed at el Escondido again this time. It's the same area as Selva just a bit further up the hill (I think you've looked at it too).

I enjoy other places too, but Mexico, PV specifically, feels like home.

I was wondering about your experience with For club? It keeps getting shut down elsewhere. I have a couple who are gym fanatics and used to go to golds in the hotel but this time are staying in a condo in old town so need something there.

hi maried11~

I love Fit Club. I take Zumba classes there. It is a wonderful facility all around... air conditioned, sparkling clean, nice staff, plenty of machines, equipment, weights, group classes, showers, lockers, etc.

It is not cheap but they do offer weekly and monthly rates, as well as annual memberships. Plus there are punch cards for 15, 30, etc. classes that are good for individual days spread over 1-year. They quoted in USD but ask for the price in peso, it was a better deal.

Pricing examples: $15usd for a day pass or 960 peso (or $60usd) for a one week, 7 consecutive day punch card.

It's the only place like it on the south-side or in Centro. There are other gyms but they are much more basic facilities.

Oh I should mention, it's on the corner of A. Serdan and I. Vallarta, just barely south of the south bound bridge. At the corner of the old Molino de Aqua property.

Right next to VDS right? Kitty corner?

Not quite, it's more like two blocks inland from the beach/Malecon, so I wouldn't describe it as kitty-corner to VdS.

It is a white building, ground level, entrances faces I. Vallarta RIGHT after coming over the bridge, but north of the A. Serdan corner.

I took a couple of Zumba classes at Estadio Municipal Agustín Flores Contreras when I was there in April. It was a lot of fun.

This trip my Zumba classes were at L. Cardenas Plaza 8am Mon-Fri and Fit Club 10am M/W/F & 7pm Tu/Th. w/ Fabi w/Fer respectively.

There is also an 8:30-9:15 M/W/F Zumba Gold down at Casa Karma (gorgeous setting on a cliff overlooking the ocean). w/ Efren

Glad you had a good time, Suze. I keep thinking I'd like to go to P.V. again, especially to have dinner with you. I really enjoyed that.

I went to Yucatán for the Mayan ruins, and I want to go again, as I didn't see everything I wanted to see.

I think I'd like to go after Thanksgiving next time.
