Post Wilma Cancun beaches
We are considering a trip to Cancun and are concerned with the erosion of the beaches in Cancun. Can anyone comment on which areas were hardest hit and which are in decent condition?

The beaches in Cancun have been completely restored, and in many places, it's a lot wider than before the hurricane. The only complaint I hear now is that the sand is not as soft as it used to be; there are seashells mixed in, so it's rougher on the feet. Also, some reports of a lot of seaweed in the last 2 weeks, which is kind of unusual.
The area of both Marriotts and Cancun Palace are experiencing some construction. Lower down the '7', places like the Fiesta Condesa and Hilton are supposed to be as beautiful or more so than ever, and at the top of the '7', the Grand Coral Beaches beach is now wider.

Your comments make complete sense, Frankie (don't they always?!? ), given that the beach reclamation project in Cancun involved dredging up sand from the sea floor offshore via huge tubes and dumping it out onto the beach.
