Possible to buy Boleto Turistico outside of Cusco?

Hi,

Is it possible to buy the boleto turistico tickets in the Sacred Valley? Like in Ollanta?

Upon landing in Cusco, we'll be heading straight out to the Sacred Valley and staying in Ollanta for 2 nights. Can we buy the boleto turistico in Ollanta or somewhere in the Sacred Valley? At the entrance of ruins or where?

Thanks!

In theory, every site that's covered on the Boleto Turistico sells them, but in practice, nobody seems to have them except the central office in Cusco.

Many sights in Sacred Valley require a boleto turisto for admission. But if they're not available at the entrance, then you can't get into the site? Or you have the option to pay per admission fee?

We'll be skipping Cusco when we first land there and head straight to the Sacred Valley and staying there for 2 days. I'm concerned that w/o the boleto turistos we won't be able to see the ruins there.

Anyone else know anything about this? I've read many trip reports where people also headed straight to the Sacred Valley.

Thanks

I forgot to buy mine in Cusco a few weeks back, and when we showed up at the pisac ruins, the park ranger cabin at the entrance was selling them. We then had them for ollanta's ruins, but they were also selling them here at the entrance. In the context of Jeff_Costa_Rica's comments above which don't agree with the experience, perhaps my experience was such because it was somewhat off season - maybe they sell out when it gets busy in the summer or something.

Does anyone have an update on this? We'll be heading straight to Sacred Valley from the airport and our first sight is likely to be Ollanta. can we buy the full boleto turistico there? we are heading there in 2 weeks.

We got ours in Pisac without a problem. we stayed in Olly for quite some time and they always seemed to be selling them at the entrance to the main site by the market. I doubt you will have any problem getting the ticket.

lerasp, I was the OP. Wow, thanks for digging up this old post. Yes, we were able to buy it at the entrance of the ruins in Ollanta.

BTW, Ollanta is the most memorable town in Peru! We stayed there 3 days and fell in love with it. We were lucky to be there when a festival was going on w/ parade, fireworks and bonfires at night right in their tiny little main square. Very cute place. Make sure you walk into the neighborhood and see authentic Incan walls, canals, etc.
