Playacar Area - Any Non-All Inclusives?

Are all the 4-star type hotels in the Playacar area of PDC All-Inclusive?

I tried to think of one if Playacar that was not and I couldn't. There are plenty of hotels and resorts like Shangri La or Las Palmas in Playa Del Carmen that are not AI. Many smaller boutique hotels are beautiful and include breakfast.

Playacar itself is not really a 4 star area.

South of there is Maroma, Intercontinental Paraiso, Ikal del Mar, etc.

I believe those are north of Playacar.

Yes, I know. Maroma and Ikal are north or PDC and Playacar.

I think your best bet for 4 star lodgings right in Playa (not Playacar) look like the royal palms condos...

Our favorite all-inclusive is the Palace Resorts... the Moon Palace is probably the best for a family vacation if one of the three is a child. Contrary to another posting... the ocean at the Moon Palace is wonderful and all of the nonmotorized water sports are included in your package.

But, if you are wanting to be more in the vacinity of Playa del Carmen, let me suggest the Playacar Palace! Located in the heart of Playa del Carmen, a short walk to the illustrious shopping mecca of 5th Street in Playa del Carmen and around the corner from the ferry to Cozumel.

Remember, when you stay at any of the Palace Resorts, you are welcome to use the facilities of the others as well. So, be sure to take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day and enjoy your lunch and dinner at the Cozumel Palace. Cozumel has the best snorkeling and diving around the second largest reef in the world!

Within walking distance of the Playacar Palace are ancient Mayan Ruins that we love to wander around and imagine what this marvelous civilization must have been like in this magnificent area.

The Aventura Spa Palace is not far away from Playa del Carmen but is Adults Only. It is lovely, but very large as well. You could go there for a day as well.

Xpu Ha has just reopened after a complete remodel due to the hurricanes of last year. This is a wonderful resort for families as well. Small, quiet and secluded casual luxury.

That's how I describe all of the Palace Resorts... casual luxury. Exactly what I want when I am on vacation.

Not meaning to steal someone's business... but we rent our Palace Resorts Premier Membership weeks to others and I can guarantee that our rates will beat what you have listed in your post.

Our membership benefits offer airport transfers, unlimited tours, massage, manicure and pedicure for every person in your party. Plus discounts on car rentals, golf and much more.

If you are interested in looking further at renting our membership week, you can check out our website... www.inspirationalmarketing.net/queens-escape.htm It will have the rates for 2006 and I know that there has been a slight increase in rates for 2007, but I am certain we can still GREATLY decrease your rate.

All-inclusive vacations are wonderful if you want to know upfront how much you are spending. Palace Resorts pampering brings people back, year after year. We routinely rent out the remainder of our 6 weeks per year to folks that look forward to their escape to Palace Resorts.

Whether we hear from you or not, I am convinced that you will love the Palace Resorts.

I am not sure, all of those around where we stayed (Allegro Playacar) seemed to be all-inclusive.
You will love it there, the water and beach is beautiful. Be sure to visit XCARET, south of Playa Del Carmen, an ecological park. The night show is a must see.

Koko,
2 things - first, Dolores is looking for a Non-AI. Second, no advertising is allowed on this board, it's against the fodors posting rules. You have an identical post on the american board.

And by the way, I've been to the moon palace beach with my family, it was very in-appealing, full of seaweed. None of us went in.

MFNYC - I agree - that was quite a long advertisement for a resort group that I would not recommend. There are many other places that are much nicer than Palace resorts which have a terrible reputation for time share sharks.

Ditto on the no spam point! Was already looking for a button to alert moderators here or whatever before I got past the message and saw others' comments. However in the meantime it made me wonder why there isn't such a button (at least not that I could find)...

Anyway if there's a non-AI in Playacar, I don't know what it would be. I'm also not sure that some of the others mentioned are still non-AI. Didn't Shangri-la Caribe go at least semi-AI at some point? I know the Gran Porto Real went AI-only last December but I'm not confusing it with that... Ikal del Mar I don't know about, sorry.

HI Steve!

Are you back from Mexico City? We missed you at Playa Maya last week when we were in PDC and stopped in for Coconut shrimp on the beach.

Hope you had a good visit!

Shangri La has breakfast and dinner included in their plan but not drinks or lunch. I've not stayed there but did go to their happy hour one night. I wouldn't consider it 4-star at all but the location is very nice.
Steve - I didn't get to meet you in Dec but leave some toys/etc for the local kids at your desk. Hope they brought some smiles. Your coconut shrimp is definitely a winner as are all your employees.
