Playa Flamingo Fishing Charters

We are three couples and our thirty year old niece traveling in CR in mid June. After a week in Arenal we are locating to Playa Flamingo to a private home and will have a rental vehicle.
The three guys and niece would like to book a fishing charter on June 15th or 16th. There is no shortage of info on the internet but was wondering if anyone had any RECENT experience with any of the charter operations they could recommend. Seems like many of the vendors use the same boat captains, even all the large hotels. Is it not possible to go straight to the boat captains themselves. If they do a half day instead of a whole day then we realize it would not be going further offshore for the catch and release but that is fine because we want to keep and eat our fish!!! However, it will be rainy season so is it better to fish first half of day instead of second half to avoid afternoon rainstorms?

Thanks for any and all advice,
Pat
