Placencia then Chaa Creek then Ambergris over Christmas?

My husband and I are planning our trip over Christmas. Our trip is 11 nights/12 days. So far, I am thinking we will head to Placencia for 3 nights over Christmas..to unwind and relax. Has anyone ever heard or stayed at Singing Sands Inn? Is it far from town?
Then hopefully heading to Chaa Creek for ATM and Tikal.
We are then heading to Ambergris, but we are having a hard time finding a place.
We are looking for something moderately priced and nice. Not necessarily the resort, but bungalow type hotel. We love to go out at night and would prefer to have some nightlife near. We love local reggae bands. Any ideas on where to stay? Is there a big New Years celebration happening?

I suspect your problem is going to be availability at this relatively late date. I'm sure there are places with vacancies, but it's traditionally the busiest time of the year.

I don't spend much time in Placencia, but did look up Singing Sands. The web page says it's seven miles from the village of Placencia. I personally prefer to stay right in town.

This website allows you to search by location on the peninsula:

As for Ambergris, what do you consider moderately priced? Many places have minimum stay requirements over the holidays.
If you want easy access to town, I'd stay south of the bridge. Easy golf cart or cab ride to town.

I haven't found much reggae on Ambergris. Lots of music, but, not reggae. I've never been for New Years, but I know there's lots of parties, lasting until morning.

Our family has travelled to Belize for the last 3 yrs for xmas. Best place to experience a great party is the Island of Caye Caulker. We have spent xmas and New Years there. Amazing xmas and NY's meals, drink specials, lots of fire works. It's a very small island and the whole island joins in the celebration at once. Live band at the local bar and music everywhere else in the streets.

I don't know what you consider moderately priced since you're staying at Chaa Creek, and that's pretty high end, but Victoria House is very nice and has thatched huts; it's on a beautiful beach, and a five dollar cab ride to town. They also have bikes you can use. Ambergris has a lot of restaurants and night life in town. I expect it would be very pricey this time of year though. And like Jean mentioned, it might be hard to find availability.

Maybe you could do ATM and Tikal and then do your beach stay along the southern coast. San Pedro would be a fun place to spend New Years but with the holidays fast approaching, you might need to look at other options. If you don't plan to rent a car, you can research flights and ground transportation to see what you can put together.

We are spending time in Placencia and Hopkins in January and have decided a rental car will be the best fit for us. We love to explore and try different restaurants each evening.
