PDC mid-January
My husband are planning to go to PDC, Gran Porto Real (still deciding but pretty sure-any recent visitors please give me your honest opinion). I was wondering if anyone has read any of the Fodors books on the Mayan Riviera or spanish for the traveler and is there one better than the other?
Thanks--Anna

saw the Gran last year when it was still being constructed. It's in a fantastic location in Playa, I think I'd consider staying there for location alone, and the rooms look very luxurious! Right next to the best beach, and an easy, easy walk to 5th Ave. So many places to eat though, please don't do all inclusive; that's half the fun of Playa, walking around and deciding where to eat!!
I am partial to Fodors, but haven't read spanish for the traveler...

Thanks for the input. I think we are going to do EP so that we can experience the restaurants. There is a fodors on Cancun, Cozumel, and Yucatan for 2006 that I am probably going to get. I have been to Mexico in the past and I have always had someone with me that spoke fluent spanish, but this time that is not the case. Do I really need to worry with it?
