PDC - Royal Hideaway -last minute . . .

My wife and I are going to Royal Hideaway in two weeks (July 4 - 14) for our honeymoon. Any last minute suggestions while in playa del carmen. Thanks.

I was at RH in April -- here's a few suggestions regarding the resort -- make your first several nights dinner reservations before leaving home if you don't want to be stuck with 6 p.m. or 9:30. The dinners are pretty long drawn out meals so if you go at 9:30 you probably won't be done until about 11:30. Then, when you arrive, make the rest of your reservations and spa appointments etc. right away. Also, if you really want an oceanview room you will probably have to pay for that category because there are very few of them. And when they show you your location on the map, if you don't like it request something different right away. The property is long and narrow down to the beach so location might be important to you. Would you rather be by the main pools and the beach or by the main building with the lobby, shops, restaurants? On the first or second floor? Have your travel agent fax your requests in advance (location, floor level, king bed etc.) When we were there the resort was full so it was difficult to change rooms once they are assigned. There is a nice shopping plaza right across from RH and you can also walk to the golf course, we spent very little time in town, the resort was so nice.

Thanks for the advice. Is there a person I need to specifically ask for when making the rest. reservations ahead of time? Do you happen to know the number or is it on the website? thanks - - - also, do you know if it is supposed to rain a lot in July?

We didn't make advance reservations so I am not certain but I think you can e-mail them from the website. Our favorite was the Asian restaurant but everything was good. Don't make too many dinner reservations at Spices because that is also where breakfast and lunch is served (it's the only restaurant with an oceanview so it's lovely during the day)so you will want to try something else at dinner. The Italian restaurant (Ventanas) is the only one with some outdoor seating so try to get outside on the balcony if you can.

We loved it there! The food was great! Just don't get your hair cut in the beauty salon. Horrible job and expensive. Have a delightful trip.

Thanks for the helpful hints. We will be leaving next Thursday. I'll give an update when we get back.
