Panama City to Portobelo, how?

Hello All, Just back last week from our very last minute Costa Rica trip. We are potentially going to Panama in early Feb.(we get very inexpensive last minute deals out of Montreal)I have been doing lots of research and we think we'd like to stay at Hotel Sister Moon on Isla Grande. Obviously the bus is the cheapest mode of transport but I am having trouble with details.
1.Where to catch the bus?
2.There are different types of buses, which one?
3.Any transport or other relevant tidbits you can pass on!
Thanx, Faith.

Well I found out!
1.Catch the bus at Allbrook bus station
2. Take it to Sabanitas
3. then on to La Guaira where you then catch the little boat to the island.
*cost is 1$ per hour of travel per person.
*These are not the same as the very colorful "city" buses. To get off you yell "parada!", to catch the bus roadside you point to the ground.Inbound to Panama City you pay when you get off, leaving Panama City you need a ticket.
Just FYI.
Faith.ps please add anything if you can! Thanx

Faithie,
We ended up taking a bus in Panama last year after we missed the last flight of the day out of David. We were flying back home the next day so we didn't have many options. It was a great ride, comfortable seats and we made a stop for a bite to eat. I was warned ahead of time that the buses were cold and it was sooo cold. I had every piece of clothing covering me I could find!Have a great trip. We loved Panama.

Hello all. Bus still a possibility. Wondering about the cost of hiring a Taxi to take us from Panama City to La Guarya? Any ideas, names, rates? I heard somewhere they typically charge $8 per hour? Appreciate any and all info. Thanx!
