OK to visit Brazil in June-July?

Hi - I am wondering if the weather in Brazil is decent enough (rain?) to visit end-June beginning-July. We'd like to spend time in the north (Salvador, Fortaleza) as well as the Amazon. Is it rainy around this time of the year or decent weather? I know Rio can be rainy but I don't have a sense for the north. Thanks!
