Don't know what the mid October temps will be in Oaxaca, but Casa Oaxaca is good and has a lovely rooftop.. .
There are many great choices and new ones since we were there a few years ago. I remember that we liked Los Danzantes - good food and very elegant modern inside (no outside space). La Olla may have the best food (chef teaches cooking classes and has good rep) but its atmosphere is more casual. We love La Biznaga - open courtyard, great food, more casual atmosphere, but service can be hit or miss. I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions/suggestions. What a great place to spend a celebrate a birthday. I'm envious. I love Oaxaca.
Thank you! You are the second person to suggest Casa Oaxaca so that may be the place but will look at websites for your other suggestions too.
