Nosara or Mal Pais

We are headed to the Nicoya Peninsula in March and we need help deciding between Nosara and Mal Pais. We would stay at Harmony in Nosara and at Moana Lodge in Mal Pais. Both sound great. We are interesed in learning to surf (or just plan surfing depending on which of the two of us you talk to) but also in relaxing, enjoying a cool town vibe,amazing scenery, wildlife, and exploring, etc. Does anyone have any advice for us on how to make this decision?
