No Results for Varig on Kayak

Hi,

I found out about kayak.com for searching for flights on the Fodor's forums. I'm planning a trip to Brazil in November and searched for flights on kayak, but it didn't return any flight for Varig, only Tam. Does anyone know why this would be?

Thanks!

hiya, all depends where you're trying to fly from. Varig is only fying to new york at the moment, the rest of their international flights will only restart in november and will only be on system as from october. meanwhile they're flying to a few international destinations and to 9 cities in Brasil. Big shame but there it is.

Varig had some major problems earlier (financial and otherwise according to some reports) and had to severely cut back service. I haven't seen any details about service resumptions, but have no reason to doubt gypsyluce's info.

Thanks for the information. I was searching for a flight between Rio and Vitoria. That's a shame the company is having difficulties.

Right to explain re Varig, part of the company ( not the cargo) declared bankrupcy last year but were bought out by another airline. They are flying normally to Sao paulo as well as 7 other destinations in Rio as well as New York, Frankfurt, and some capitals in South America including Buenos Aires and Bogota. They have had no further problems and are awaiting the arrival of new planes and the resumption of many old routes as from November, This inside information for me comes from people in Varig who I know, and pester nearly daily to get updates. Their lack is sorely felt. If I can help in any way please let me know.

Thanks gypsyluce.

I will be travelling in November to visit my brother and his family who live in Brazil. We are hoping to book the tickets no later than early next week, so it will be too late for me to book Varig for that journey.

However, it will be nice to have choice for future trips.
