Never Been There

I am trying to find the best hotel to stay at in Belize. I want something on the ocean, yet I don't want it to be too remote. I have seen stuff about Marupa and Kantiki. Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm planning our '05 trip so have not actually been to Belize (yet). However, based on my research, it looks like Cayo Espento is the place (Tiger Woods stayed there).

Those places are called Maruba, Kanantik and Cayo Espanto. All are upscale, especially CE. But I much prefer other lodges in the country that I think give you a better feel for Belize and are in areas that offer lots more activities. Take a look at Roberts Grove and Turtle Inn in Placencia for beach and Chaa Creek or Blancaneaux Lodge on the mainland for jungle trip, caving, maya sites, horses, river trips and more.

Actually, Tiger only stayed at Cayo Espanto one night. He then went back to his yacht.

I spent a week at Cayo Espanto last spring. It is heavenly and I would be happy to answer any questions.
