We are staying at the Copacabana Palace in Rio and are looking for some great "local" restaurant recommendations nearby. We are open to any types of cuisine but definitely want to go to some restaurants with local cuisine, great food and a fun atmosphere. Thank you in advance for your help.

I just posted a reply to your earlier message..
Take a short taxi to Ipanema and eat at Porcao (the "c" is a cedilla, you know, the decending curly-cue)so it's pronounced por-sao.
Fantastic. Brazil BBQ where they come around with skewers of meat plus the tables full of everything else.
Here's a link, with a link to the restaurant

The best restaurant in Copacabana, sit outside and enjoy the best view in the whole world at restaurant Dom Camillo Av. Atlantica, 3056 Copacabana Rio de Janeiro. Or at night inside they have strolling minstrels singing Italian arias.
Another top restaurant is Satyricon in Ipanema and Mio's in Ipanema. Check out Quadrofoglia in Jardim Botanico.
Porcao in Ipanema is fine but they also have a larger one with a view of Sugar Loaf in Flamengo Park.
Thank you both for your suggestions. I really appreciate it!!! What do most people wear to go out to dinner to the above places that you recommended?
Well, if your staying at the Copacabana Palace which is the best hotel in Rio then you should be starting from a good place. The restaurants I named are some of the best in Rio, for the most part Brasilians dress to go out for dinner and for these best restaurants wear your best for a hot tropical locale. Definately no shorts or T shirts or sandals, they might not even let you in.
"Porcao (the "c" is a cedilla, you know, the decending curly-cue)so it's pronounced por-sao."
The cedilla is not atop the C it's atop the A so the word is not pronounced as por-sao it might sound more like porkoun
