Four couples, looking for some culture, some adventure, nice hotels, from Antigua, to Tikal, ending in Ambergris Caye, Belize. Have traveled with Latin Destinations before, but getting mixed quotes from them. Anyone have other companies/suggestions? We are fluent in Spanish, but don't want to hassle with driving, making arrangements.

Check on Overseas Adventure Travel (maximum group size is 16). We went on their Route of the Maya tour in February, and it was fantastic.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions about this tour.

Hi Tvlmaven,
I went with a group led by Hopefulist in July and we started in Antigua and ended up in Tikal and some of the group continued on to Belize. For part of our land transportation we used Adrenalina Tours. Stacey, Hopefulist, can give you more information.
In Tikal we stayed at the Tikal Inn and used Roxana (Roxy) Ortiz as our guide for touring Tikal. She was amazing. She is the sister of the manager of the Tikal Inn and if she is available to guide I would highly recommend her. She had us hanging on her every word. She knows the park, the history, all the wildlife and all the plants. She made Tikal come alive for us.
It was a wonderful trip. We went to Spanish schools in Antigua and San Pedro La Laguna. It was a lot more 'cultural' than CPI in Flamingo Beach.
I know you will have a wonderful time. Tell Mr. Trvlmaven hello from me and Mr. cgenster.

Here's the link to Adrenalina: www.adrenalinatours.com We were universally pleased with the vehicles and drivers - prompt, friendly, helpful, and safe. There was a small glitch with the hotel at Tikal (communication by Adrenalina - the hotel is wonderful) but it was easily solved. Worth looking into!
We did have a wonderful trip - great group. And I 2nd and 3rd and 4th Roxy Ortiz - I was so spellbound I couldn't believe (and was so sad) that more than 4 hours had passed and it was time to head back. She's an archaeologist and incredibly knowledgeable about the nature as well.
Please keep us posted and post a trip report for us when you get home. Happy trails!
