Need info about Puerto Vallarta

If you have any questions about Puerto Vallarta, hotels, activities, tours, etc. I will be happy to help you. I work for a tour-company here and I know most of the hotels pretty well, and can give you recommendations on what to do etc. Send me an e-mail to [email protected]

I am having a hard time to decide wether I should stay at the Camino Real or at La Jolla de Mismaloya. Can you recommend me either of them ? Would you think there are a lot of children at the hotel at the end of August ?

It is a pleasure to answer your question about
the two hotels. Really , if price wise there is no difference or if the
Jolla de Mismaloya is even more inexpensive, then you definitely have to
chose La Jolla de Mismaloya. The only disadvantage I could think of is
that you are quite a bit farther out of town, but the hotel is
definitely worth it.

As far as the kids concern, at both hotels you could find kids around
the pool, and at least at the Jolla de Mismaloya there are several
swimming-pools so it might be easier to find a more quiet spot.

A little more about the hotels : Yes , the rooms at La Jolla are much
more spacious, there are actually suites, and you have quite a spacious
balcony as well. Just request a high floor, the higher you are , the
better the view is, even though all the rooms face the ocean / swimming
pool.

The general areas are also much better at La Jolla de Mismaloya, it is
really a beautiful resort with very nice restaurants ( among which the
Set of the Night of the Iguana ).

The beach is a more private at the Camino Real, as the hotel is more in
it's own bay, so there are almost none beach-vendors. But the Jolla de
Mismaloya does have a big part of the beach, where the beach vendors are
not permitted to come in, so that is ok. Besides the swimming-pools are
so beautiful that you will probably spend a lot of time there.

At the Camino Real the rooms are regular and the balconies are very very
small, if you could call it a balcony. The good part at the Camino Real
are the Camino Real Club rooms, which are very large rooms with balcony
and some with jacuzzi, but these rooms are also quite a bit more
expensive than the regular rooms.

I can also recommend you to have a look at excursions before you come
down, as it can be busy in Puerto Vallarta in august ( Mexican vacation as well) and it is a good idea to reserve in advance if there are activities you are specifically interested in. There are some great things to do here.

Have a look at the following web-site:
http://www.royale-tours.com

Here you will find quite a few descriptions and pictures of good
excursions.

My personal favorites are the Sierra madre Expedition and the Caletas by
Night excursion. Of course the swimming with the dolphins is a very
unique experience as well, but a little expensive..

Let me know what you think about everything and what you decide or if
you would like to have any other information. I will be happy to help
you.

Hi Lynne, thank you for your message. Indeed, Caletas by Night is one of favorites as well. That place is a real beauty !

Kim:

I'm traveling to PV in November and am considering the following hotels: Crown Paradise Resort, Allegro Resort, Eden Resort Sunset Bay, Fiesta Americana, Continental Plaza and Buenaventura. (That's my short list!) The main things I'm looking for in a hotel are a fantastic beach, a great view and, of course, all the usual amenities (AC, shower, pool, restaurant, bars, etc.) Of the hotels I've listed, which would be your top choices?

Hi Kim!

Three friends and I (all 26-28 females) are trying to decide between two all-inclusives (the Royal Decameron Costa Flamingosnd the Vista Club Playa de Oro) and Los Tules, which is not AI. Can you give us your opinion on these 3? They are not 5 star hotels as you already know, but seem to list great amenities online. Could you also recommend your favorite bars and discos? We are all native Spanish speakers, so feel free to recommend the most popular among the locals. Thanks in advance!
Hi Sonia , first about the weather in August, rainy season in Puerto Vallarta. The good thing about the rainy season here is that it basically only rains in the late afternoon, evening or at night. So you can still enjoy the beach and the swimming-pool or any excursions during the day, and sunbath. It is rather hot in the month of August, but for a vacation it is ok. For us, when we are working, it is less ok...
Then about the hotels. I personally like the Playa de Oro hotel. It is not a super-deluxe hotel, but it is cozy, it has a nice Mexican style and it offers excellent value for money. The rooms are good, comfortable , very clean and the hotel is in a good state in general. The beach is very good here. The location is good in my opinion, as you are not too far from downtown ( about 10 minutes driving distance, taxi about 4 US ), and you are right next to the marina where the day-cruises leave from. You will have to take into consideration that you will probably not want to be at the hotel all the time, as there are great excursions and very nice restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, but as the all-inclusive packages have such good prices, normally it is still worth it if you have at least breakfast and one meal per day ( lunch or dinner), and of course you have all your drinks included and the activities , shows , entertainment etc.
The Costa Flamingos is also nice , but about 40 minutes driving distance from downtown, and I personally think it is a pity, as it is so nice to walk around the downtown area, go out etc, certainly if you are native Spanish speakers.
I don't know Los Tules that well personally, but the location is good, the beach is fine, and the hotel looks ok in general.
Send me an e-mail if you have any other questions and check our web-site for activities as well : http://www.royale-tours.com
