I'm going to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with a friend over the holidays.
The two of us want to get out of town and avoid the "being single during the holidays blues."
We already have reservations at a wonderful boutique hotel.
Leaving on 12/25/11 to Cabo San Lucas from Portland, Ore.
Returning on 1/2/12.
Airfare is very high, around $900.
Does anyone have a tip on how to get there for less?
Need help with best airfare from Portland, Ore. to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Airfare is typically highest around the holidays......
Sign up for Fare Alerts on Kayak.com. You can get daily emails telling you what the current fares are.
www.cheapoair.com CO/UA PDX via HOU to Cabo from $300
each way currently if you play around with those dates.
Probably as good as it gets around the holidays.
kayak.com/buzz another good site...
Sorry that was each way
so if you can catch the right flights
$600 or so RT
It's because of your dates. Christmas/New Years is simply a very expensive time to travel. You might also check leaving from Seattle?
Cabo is a great place to vacation btw. Hope you can get something worked out!
Yeah, we flew a nearly identical itinerary PDX to Cancún last year to join our daughter and her husband in Playa del Carmen: out the morning of the 26th and home on January 2nd. We ended up biting the bullet and spending more than $900 for flights that cost us less than $400 in June. Believe it or not, the cost for the flights we wanted continued to escalate from there and eventually sold out. Good luck!
Sometimes the closer to the time you want to fly (around the holidays) the better deals you can get. As the time nears Christmas / New Year's the airlines want to get their seats filled. My sister flys to the mainland every Christmas from Hawaii and she has found the rates will drop the closer it gets. HOWEVER, so does seat availablity so it is a gamble.
We just returned from Cabo and found Alaska Airlines is apparently very popular for traveler's from Portland, OR.
