Need help with airport transfer in Mexico

We are flying into Cancun and have to get to our hotel in Playa Del Carmen. The hotel does not have a shuttle service to transfer us from the airport. They suggest that we simply get a taxi at the airport. We are a bit hesitant about getting a taxi and would much prefer to arrange for transportation before we get there.

A friend said that she found a service online and was very happy with them. She searched online and tried several but most asked to give a credit card number except this one. Unfortunately, she does not remember the name of the company.

Does anyone know about a reliable company we could use for this purpose? Thank you very much.

We used USA Transfers.

http://www.usa-transfers.com/

And we also arranged a transfer through the hotel. You could ask your hotel how much a transfer would be if they arranged it, even if they do not provide an airport shuttle service themselves. It seems a bit far for a hotel to have an airport shuttle from Cancun to PDC.

Piece of cake... As you exit the Airport terminal, there will be hoards of people trying to sell you something. Just keep on going and once outside, stick to your right and walk down about 100 yards until you get to the small kioske for the ADO busline. There will be a lady there to sell you your ticket to go to Playa. Make sure you get in the proper line for Playa as they also leave for Cancun in the same area. You just cant miss the bus as they are just like the Greyhounds only they are all red with the ADO lettering on the side. The cost is about 140 pesos one way. If the bus is present, you can get on almost immediately. if not you obviously have to wait. The driver will help you with your luggage that goes underneath in the big doors. Once on board you have nothing to worry about. He will make one stop only in Puerto Morelos but stay seated until you are in the official bus depot in center town Playa. At the depot you can get a taxi or info and simply walk to your hotel with your luggage in tow...

We have used Cancun Valet and have been very pleased.
This year several friends have used Canada Transfers which is less expensive and everyone raves about them.

We have used USA Transfers, too. They are great. Very reliable. I think using the Aldo Bus would be a bit of a hassle with luggage. I know many people use it to get to Playa for the ferry to Cozumel, but we prefer a van that will take you right to the door instead of dragging luggage around town.

For this trip, I'd definitely go with a transfer service. A taxi would be pricey since it is about an hours drive.

ADO bus is fine, and super cheap, but it isn't nearly as convenient as door-to-door service. If you pack light and are ok dealing with your own luggage, it is a good option.

I've also used USA Transfers the last 3 trips. Canada Transfers is another reliable operator, they provide free water and you can pre-order beer for $1-2 per beer depending on brand.
You can either prepay ahead using PayPal, or pay the driver when they drop you at your hotel, be sure and tip them. USA will not have the beer but will make a quick stop at an OXXO or 7-11 for beer, water, etc. for free.

Thanks so much for all this help. We will contact these companies and see what works. If not, the bus seems like a good default option to me.

You don't give the name of your resort so if you take the bus just be aware some resorts are not right on the road and you might have a bit of a walk dragging your suitcase once the bus drops you off.
We much prefer a direct transfer when dealing with luggage.

If you do take the ADO bus, you can take it from Cancun Airport to the bus station in PDC, and then take a taxi from the bus station to your resort. ADO has a couple of departures per hour for most of the day on this route and the bus fare is 156 pesos/person, or about 11 USD. Taxi fare from the PDC bus station to your resort depends on where your resort is located. The bus/taxi combo isn't as convenient as a direct transfer, but the price difference might be enough to make it worth it. So something to consider.

We have used Canada Transfers twice,, they are great.. they are there when you arrive,, come stocked with ice cold bottled water and cool wet cloths.. and will for a buck each arrive with cold beers or sodas.
They took our Canadian money on par too( which is a deal for us, in fact.. the way our dollar is doing if I was American I would purchase Canadian dollars just to pay in Canadian..lol ])

USA transfers is a good option if you want to book in advance. Also to cut down on cost you can look for hotel shared shuttles. or the bus/taxi combo suggested by november_moon is an economical and comfortable option. Enjoy your tour

Just want to thank everyone for the helpful suggestions. We ended up booking with Cancun Avatays. They charged us $95 for roundtrip, which we paid in cash in two installments.

Looks like this 2014 thread was topped by spam or advertising that was removed.
