Here's the deal:
I'm planning a honeymoon for late June/early July for about 10 days...problem is, I just don't know where to go! We'd like to go somewhere that's not too overrun with tourists and that presents a nice variety of activities. The one thing we're not really looking to do is beach, I was born and raised in Hawaii and am pretty well spoiled on the ocean. I guess a good mix of city and jungle/ancient civilization/adventure type of deal is what we're looking for. I don't even know if this exists but I thought I'd put a feeler out there and see what all you seasoned travelers could come up with.
I've been looking in to Belize but can't make up my mind...any ideas? Where to go, what you recommend I see, suggested itineraries.
P.S. We're coming from Denver, Colorado.

Belize is an awesome choice. You could split your time between 2 inland locations or choose a stop in a coastal place like Hopkins Village, for culture more than for the beach itself.
Another great choice is Guatemala - the highlands are amazing from a cultural stand point; you can access Tikal from either country.

Agree that Belize would be great for you. We love Costa Rica too, but it doesn't have much in the way of ruins and ancient civilizations. Chaa Creek is a nice jungle lodge in the Cayo District - you can go caving, canoeing, hiking, birding, and head to Tikal from there.
The mainland rainforests of Belize are as exquisite as our barrier reef with plenty to do. We have many impressive Mayan sites, cave with artifacts, river and horse trips, zip lines, waterfalls (you can rent privately for the day) botanic gardens and butterfly farms and many interesting, diverse and friendly cultures. June is the beginning of rainy season with less rains towards the end of the month and into July. You could easily spend 5 nights in the Cayo district and be busy every day. I would also consider the Toledo district, our least visited area with a bountiful rainforest, cacao farms in the Mayan villages, other interesting cultures and more. You could visit Tikal on a day or overnight trip from Cayo. The Orange Walk district has two very good lodges; one next to the site of the same name and another in even denser forest. If you are in Belize around and just after the full moon, you might want to consider a few days on the Placencia peninsula where 45 ft docile whale sharks congregate off the coast and are incredible to see while diving or snorkeling. Belize has many charming lodges on the mainland and both San Ignacio town in Cayo and Punta Gorda town in Toledo are quaint interesting towns to visit.
