Need help finidng a hotel for Feb or Mar in Playa Del Camen
My husband and I are planning a trip to Playa Del Carmen and are struggling to choose a hotel. We'd like one on the beach, close to the nightlife yet secluded enough so there isn't a lot of noise and the beach isn't busy. We're not looking for an all inclusive as we plan to take a few day adventures while we are there and don't think the price for an all inclusive will make sense since we will only be there 1/2 the time. If we stick to not staying at an all inclusive, we'd like to keep the price between $300 - $400 /night. Definitely will apreciate your recommendations!! Thank you!

Take a look at Riviera Maya Suites ( http://www.rivieramayasuites.com/ ). Haven't stayed there but keep thinking about it. It's not a hotel per se, but looks great. Direct access to the grounds and facilities of the Hotel Las Palapas, including the beach. We stayed at La Tortuga Hotel, which was a cute, clean, well-maintained hotel but not on the beach.

Look at Locogringo.com for accomendations:

Many of the smaller, boutique hotels in Playa del Carmen do not have beach access, so be careful when looking. They will have comp. access to a beach club.
Look at Mahekal Beach Resort. They do not have TV's or phones in the rooms. It's about a 20 minute walk to the start of 5th Avenue and probably sits on the best beach in that area.
Playa Palms is in a great location, but they do not have their own restaurant and bar.
Mosquito Beach Hotel
Petit Lafitte
Las Palapas, which is right next door to the Mahekal.
