Need advice from recent travelers to the Mayan Riveria, Playa del Carmen area

Message: Hello, I'm seeking info on the Riu Tequila: we will be staying there end of July. Going with Funjet package. Anbody been there? Got any tips? What is it like? How safe is Mexican Riviera these days? any Malaria or Hepatitus scares? What about violence, thefts etc. Will be taking children and my sister is concerned. I'm looking to put her mind at ease. Thanks for any advice you can give us.
