Nazca/Ica side-trip

Looks like bus is the only option for getting to this area. I plan to stay 1-2 nights in order to visit a few archeological sites. Since the earthquake (or for any other reason), is it better to stay over in Nazca or Ica? Any recommendations on a really clean, comfortable, moderately priced accomodation?

Why do you say the bus is the only option? I flew last year.

hills27, I noted in another post (http://tinyurl.com/yo5ode)about recent info, and AeroCondor does not now list any flights to that area that I can find.

Their website doesn't say anything about their trips being cancelled. I'd call them directly.

Just to clarify, I was wanting only a return flight without the Nazca Lines over-flight included, so I could stay a night or two and arrange the Nazca Lines flight on my own. When I went to the AeroCondor website, there were no flights other than the touring ones you kindly gave as a link. I did call, and was told I would need to take a bus to do this, as I hope to also visit a couple of archeological sites while there. Thanks for your responses, hills27!

Does anyone have an idea of the cost of these flights? Just starting my research and would like to include this if feasible.

We were there two weeks ago and were told that the government had banned all flights to the Nazca lines as too many planes were landing on the highway.

I am flabergasted. Why would planes, especially jets (which we took), land on a highway when there is an airstrip?
