Mexico vs Caribbean

We are trying to plan a trip. We like to snorkel and golf. Is there anyone that has been to both the Caribbean and Mexico? Just wondering which has better snorkeling off the beach. We are considering Cozumel as the posts rave about the great snorkeling but how does it compare to locations in the Caribbean? Thank you!

This may be a small point but it should be noted that Cozumel is on the Caribbean.

Any chance you'd consider Hawaii? We've been to many places in the Caribbean and Mexico and find that Hawaii is the best overall for the combination of snorkeling and golf. We really love Kaanapali Beach on Maui and the Kaanapali Beach Hotel where you can walk a few feet and snorkel with turtles every morning. We love Cozumel too, and have been there 3 times, but I don't think there is any golf. It is relatively inexpensive and very laid back. Another fun place is Huatulco Mexico. There isn't a lot of snorkeling, but the Pacific is beautiful and we played some golf with local caddies. We stayed at Zashilla resort which is beautiful.

Where were you thinking of in Mexico and the caribbean ? There is a LOT of variation. Best combination of snorkeling and golf that I know of would probably be Bermuda BUT it is in the Atlantic and is NOT a winter destination.
In caribbean (or at least close enough to be warm in the winter)
Provo (island in Turks and Caicos) has excellent off the beach snorkeling and a golf course (no idea about quality of course)
British Virgin Islands - great snorkeling, no idea about golf - dont think there is any
Dominican Republic - golf courses in some areas, snorkeling pretty mediocre, great beaches in some places
Mexico - good snorkeling on Cozumel and in parts of the Mayan Riviera (Akumal area has some nice snorkeling) I gather there is a golf course near Playa Del Carmen

Cozumel has a very new golf course--a very nice facility.

Hello,
Either one will be great for the activities you are interested in.
We go to both the Caribbean Islands and Mexican Caribbean every year. The people both places are great, but the cultural differences make them completely different locales.
The snorkeling in Cozumel is the best I've seen ANYWHERE, and there are lovely beaches.
If golf is VERY important, Mexico is not the best choice unless there are some courses I am not aware of. However, as one poster mentions, the new course on Cozumel is supposed to be nice. (I'll find out in 2 more weeks!)
The Four Seasons on Nevis has one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Caribbean, but the snorkeling on Nevis is not the best.
Based on your needs, I'd suggest Cozumel.
