Can anyone tell me about this area? I dont know if this is a city, town, village. Don't have a clue..
My husband became friends with one of his employees, we will call Juan. My husband and I would like to visit him in combination with a vacation next year (Feb, Mar, April), however we are not sure about the area or what is near it. We recently sent "Juan" mail and this is - well part of his address. (still trying to understand him) We plan on staying 7 nights. While we are there we would like to go on a fishing charter, see some of the "authentic Mexico" do some snorkling and the beach thing. Also, can you tell me about transportation and hotels in this area? I have purchased a Fodors Mexico, but it's useless until i have somewhat of a destination. Any info will be appreciated.

Your address is in the state of Mexico, town or municipality is: Juchitepec de Mariano Riva Palacio. So, not sure exactly where this place is, it may be part of the Mexico City Metro area, but for sure it is high up in the mountains and far from the beach...

Assuming Juchitepec de Mariano Riva Palacio is part of the Metro area, For a 1st timer to Mexico which direction would you choose to go from there?
Although I have been to various parts of Mexico City and surrounding area over the years, I haven't been to the town you are looking at. Here's the information I found:
" Juchitepec municipio, Mexico state, central Mexico, 29 mi/47 km SE of Mexico city, and in the Zona Metropolitana de la Ciudad de Mexico."
I would suggest doing a lot of web searches finding out all you can. For a first timer, Mexico City and surroundings might be pretty overwhelming. To get there from the airport y9u would need to a taxi or a series of buses that would require being able to speak Spanish. Likewsie, this could be a very rough area (I don't know) as some parts of Mexico City are. My advice is to communicate extensively with your friend in Mexico and get lots of specifics to see if you could work this out. One more tyhing to take into account which is purley my opinion, Mexicans are incredibly hospitable people and are often very generous when they don't have much. We became familiar with a family one summer in Saltillo and they invited us to come down and stay at there house during the winter. When we came they made tremendous sacrifices, sleeping onthe floor and insisting we take the beds, etc. We also realized we were putting them out financially. They never said a word but it became a concern to me. Anyway, over and over again, Mexican folks have given to me when they have not had enough for themselves. Anyway, get your information, because if what I found is correct, you would be going to a place that is one of the biggest municipalities in the world and quite overwhelming on occasion.
I agree with Dude. Often the Mexican people will sacrifice for guest to a unbelievable extent. I contribute to a fund for poor Mexican kids allowing them to go to school. buy uniforms, books & lunch. I chose NOT to sponsors a particular child as I hear & see stories of the Mexican Families inviting the Sponsors to their home spending their weekly grocery money on one meal entertaining the sponsors. A proud, kind people!
