There are some great excursions from the Conchal..we weren't on the ocean though...the hotel is lovely..huge lagoon type pool, beautiful grounds and rooms.. We bought the semi food plan.. Within walking distance is a great local restaurant, the Golden Shrimp.. we ate many meals there on the beach with the ocean a few feet away..When we were there the entertainment wasn't that great, but that wasn't important... For more info and pictures please write..

What is the semi-plan for meals. We have a large group headed there this Saturday. Did the hotel arrange the side trips or was it through a tour company and if so which one did you use? Thanks for the info. By the way the Golden Shrimp is outstanding. Glad to know it is walking distance. Last time we stayed at Flamingo Beach, but the restaurant arranged transporation. Thanks for the info. Leigh

The semi food plan included all breakfasts and I think three or four meals in their restaurants and $25.00 per beverage credit.. For lunch at the Grille we wouldhave a hamburger, french fries and iced coffee.. The specialty restaurants are an Italian (very good-excellent bread), the buffet which we never did and the big Gourmet Restaurant at the top of the hill.. which was a little pretentious, but a romantic evening... The Golden Shrimp can be found by walking along the beach to the right..and although we didn't go there was a jeep stationed on the beach that took you to a restaurant down the way.... My husband was unable to walk to the Golden Shrimp..we took a taxi one way and the restaurant paid for it on the way back.. IF you act like a tourist and order the lobster the bill can run up..Because of our interests in parrots the owner brought out the ones they owned...I cannot tell you how upseting it was to see these beautiful birds in cages I wouldn't even put a plant.. We ended up having lunch there often..just asking the owner to feed us what was fresh...and at night with the xmas lights on it was really quite romantic.. It was frequented by locals and tourists alike.. I have pictures of the hotel and restaurant if you will write.. At the time we were ther El Nina or El Nino had been there and the undertow was quite rough..but everybody hid out around the pool. What I liked was the fact that there were little cozy corners with shade and privacy.. The joke at the time (it was February) that the water in the pool was so hot you had to get out to cool off or you stood under a tree in the lagoon.. As for the tours..there are tour companies under the stairs of the main building..Everybody raved about the rafting trip..wasn't really a raft.. We did the dry tropical forest.. we weren't too impressed. The one we missed and I think you will too.. is the laying of turtle eggs..led by a guide..
