Mayan Riviera Honeymoon
I am interested in getting some information regarding the Mayan Rivera, possibly Cancun for a June Honeymoon. I am interested in spending the most time visiting the ruins and spending a few days relaxing under the sun. I am interested in finding out if anyone has any suggestions regarding hotels, cities, and vacation plans. Is it worth booking an all inclusive package, or should I trying booking seperately. I am currently planning a seven day honeymoon including flight from Texas, looking to spend less than four thousand. If anyone needs anymore information, please let me know. Thanks

There are so many nice hotels to choose from. Take a look at the list on differentworld.com - they have some of the best of the best....Ikal del Mar, Escencia, Maroma are the top notch ones.
A few others are more rustic, but very stylish and romantic...Al Cielo, La Conchita.
And nice Haciendas in the more interior areas where Uxmal and Chichen Itza are located.
After you look at the list, let us know what catches your eye...so we'll have a better idea of what you're looking for.

Royal Hideaway is great for honeymooners. Don't know if it will be in your budget with flight. You also may want to check out Secrets Capri and Excellence Riviera Maya.
There are all adults only resorts.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering if someone can explain the different hotel locations found in Cancun. What is the best location/hotel to stay at if I want to take advantage of relaxation and the beach, but at the same time I want to be able to take day trips to the Mayan Ruins.
Also, should I go All Inclusive. Thanks.

cancunmap.com can give you a great overview of the area... For the $6 or so you'll spend, it'll be well worth it.
I stayed in the hotel zone in Cancun this summer, and we rented a car to drive all around the Mayan Riviera. IMHO this is a great way to do things.
I'm not a fan of the all inclusive idea for this area because in both Cancun and Playa there are lots of good restaurants that are so fun to visit. But I've never stayed all inclusive and others loved it. I think the non allinclusive hotels in general give you a higher end experience. The all inclusives sometimes look so large and so crowded to me. But if you're highly social you might enjoy all the people.
If I were you, I'd check out the LeMeridien in Cancun, the Hilton, the Marriott Casa Magna, the Gran Melia (royal service), all on the same beach in Cancun.
For an all inclusive, I'd look at Dreams Cancun or LeBlanc or the Riu Palace Mexico.
Have fun!

I would suggest the Rivera Maya area for your honeymoon. It's much quieter than the hotel zone and the hotels are outstanding. You can't beat the value and service of the AI's in Mexico. Look for the adult's only all inclusive. The service and atmosphere is great. I've stayed at Secrets Excellence which was really nice, and their other property Secrets Capri is supposed to be very nice as well, just a bit smaller. I would suggest you look at the reviews and forums on tripadvisor.com for recommendations for the adult all inclusives, people are really helful there. I've been to Rivera Maya 3 times and Cozumel once and each time has been great.
As for excursions, we've booked them directly from the resorts. They make it really simple to do. The Palace Resorts, some of those are adults only too, even offer some excursions as part of their package. Probably the best excursion we went on was with a company called all-tournatives. It was a full day tour, a small group, just 8 of us. We went to ruins, swam in a cenote, rapelled, did a zip line, kayaked, had lunch in a mayan village - a lot in one day, but it was awesome!
For me personally, I wouldn't stay in the hotel zone - it's too commercialized. I'd stay in the Mayan Rivera and take an evening to go to the hotel zone if you want to.
You should definitely be able to find something in your budget in June.

Secrets Excellence is now called just Excellence. That and Secrets Capri are great for honeymooners.

It offers a lot of info on Mexico.
The woman who runs the board is a fantastic travel agent and she is right in Texas!!
