I've heard Maya Air offers cash discounts - 25% and that it's generally unadvertised. I've emailed customer service to ask but they haven't gotten back to me. Has anyone gone recently and know? I'm hoping since it's low season that we ought to be able to walk up and purchase flights for the 3:45 pm tomorrow (Thu).
Is this a bad idea? Should I just pre-purchase our tix to make sure we get on the flight?

I have never heard of this and have paid cash. As long if it is not a weekend and you can afford to miss the first flight available if it is booked then I would buy it when you arrive. However, since you are arriving at 3:45 and I don't have the schedule I would be making reservations if you are going to the Cayes. I know between Maya and Tropic they have a flight or 2 every hour. I like the idea of flying from the International Airport and back, it is a very simple way to travel. I know we did save money when we booked return tickets as we know when we are leaving.
I booked my husband on a Maya Air flight from BZE to San Pedro this spring and got the discount. I made the reservation several days in advance, but had to go in the day of the flight and pay. Sort of odd, but it worked out ok.
i received the 25% cash discount although I couldn't figure out how to reserve prior to arriving so we just purchased our tickets when we got to BZE. We were uncertain whether we'd get on the next flight out but it worked out. Nice savings and we were able to purchase our return tix at the same time.
fishee - Looking forward to your travelogue.
Does anyone know how much they charge from BZE to San Pedro and what the flight times are? Their website is not much help at all and they do not return emails.
I'm pretty sure they run every hour, but I see what you're talking about on their website. It's not very helpful. Tropic Air also goes to San Pedro.
