Marina Fiesta Resort

I posted the following a couple of days ago and realised I called it the "Fiesta marina Resort"!! Now, I'll do it with the correct name " Marina Fiesta Resort" and it is in Cabo. I have a week booked and am freaking out. I have it booked through RCI and just went through a bad experience with them. So much so that husband is refusing to go. In particular, I am concerned about the units. I am also taking guests so I have two units booked. Anybody able to tell me about the Fiesta untis? I have my numbers, a studio #222 and a 1 bedroom #243-244. Probably expecting too much that some person out there would know anything about those particular untis but maybe somebody stayed next door????!!! and can ease my fears. Thank you in advance.

I stayed there last year w/my parents as they own a timeshare there. We stayed in what i believe was a studio size. Basically, hotel style with a full kitchen. One bedrooms will have a seperate bedroom as opposed to two queen size beds in the main area. The Marina Fiesta is a nice, well maintained resort. What was your bad experience through R.C.I that has made your husband refuse to go? E- mail the resort and ask "where in paticular" the units are? Overlooking the pool? Most seem to have balconys that look over the pool area and if you are high enough, the Marina. We would sit out on the balcony, enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and salsa and chips. The location cannot be beat. Walking distance to everthing.

Thanks for your reply..lvitaly.. I think? The bad R.C.I. experience was in Kauai of all places. We stayed in Princeville and I now can't pronounce the name of the place. It was one of the PAHIO places. I believe that the place is probably good except for a few units........and I ended up with one of them. I called my own Vacation club (Shell) and got in touch with RCI. I could have checked out and gone home but who wants to do that so I stayed. RCI did offer a full refund of a weeks points if I wanted to check out (And go where????). I really believe that the place was probably fine but as an RCI referral, not a member, I got relegated to the back of the bus, so to speak. RCI told me of another unit they had there to offer but did admit that becaus she was showing one unit on her system it did not mean that would be the one I would get. I had gone to the front desk upon arrival to ask for another unit and I already knew before I talked to RCI what was available and it was directly under where I was. The studio we stayed in could be considered a room for one. I would have gotten over that but it smelt of mold. I have been to Hawaii many times and am very used to geckos but I am NOT used to staying awake all night watching them climb the walls. Thanks for your info on the Marina. I am so afraid that we will get units agian in Cabo that are old, musty etc. It seems to spoil the vacation no matter how beautiful the suroundings are. Of course this time I have family accompanying me. Do you by any chance think that RCI "people" are treated any different? And again......thank you for your reply.

I do not have that much experience in dealing with R.C.I myself, although we are trading our Vegas Timeshare for one in Cape Cod in two weeks. First time i have actually done a trade and using R.C.I ,so it remains to be seen.Personally, i dont think "R.C.I people" are treated any different, i think you had a bad experience. As far as Marina Fiesta is concerned i cant imagine you will have a musty, old room. I do not think that exists there!Try to do some research or go on their web-site and see if they have any pictures of the resort.Rest assure, you will be fine there!

Thanks again. I live an hour away from Cape Cod so I hope it all goes well for you. Weather here is good right now so you could be lucky and get some nice Fall weather. E-mailed the Marina. The place looks fab. on the website but then again so did the place in Kauai....I think I best stop worrying and just look forward to it.

You may want to get on tripadvisor.com and read"the good, bad and ugly".Have you ever been to Mexico?? If not, things tend to be done differently there. I think the key is patience at times. We have a timeshare in P.V and used it for the first time this past April. I find that typical things like housekeeping are not consistant. After reading tripadvisor( on Marina Fiesta)i can see the same pattern. Am i making sense?? Also, Orbitz has a picture of what i percieve to be the "studio"? It was the same size room that we stayed in. By the way, how is the weather in your neck of the woods? We will also be in Boston and New Hampshire next week then on to Cape Cod

Hey there, I am actually 15 mins. from Boston. Things are OK. I just hate cold of any description and the mornings and evenings are cool...days about 70. Going to get some rain and wind from Ivan. All in all it looks like we will be staying in the 60 & 70 area for the next 10 days or so with nights at 40-50. If that keeps up you'll have nice weather. New Hampshire tends to be about 5-10 degrees cooler than Boston. I have been on to Trip Advisor before I started here. I think some of the reports on Trip advisor got me nervous but there are some good ones. Lots of good ones actually. I think I am so finicky right now that the only thing to cure me would be flying to Cabo to see !!! I was in Playa Del Carmen a couple of years ago and did a day stop in Cozumel last year. I love the weather and to be honest, I have my kids going with me this time so housekeeping doesn't worry me. Wonderful if I have it. Just need some extra towels but I find I am constantly picking up anyway. I really would like to be able to cook breakfast and lunch and just go out for dinner. I am taking my brother in law and his family also. I'm putting them in the studio!! (Family of four) and I am keeping the one bedroom (Family of 5). If I had a kitchen where I could cook in the one bedroom I'd be happy. I did e-mail the Marina but haven't received a reply yet. The website is confusing with its junior, master, executive etc......
Any Q's on my neck of the woods..just ask. Don't know if I'd be any help but I'll try.

Thanks for the weather update. I am in Calif. and we are still in shorts and flipflops!I have to get into a different mode to pack. I usually vacation were it's warm so i guess i will pull out the sweaters! When we went to P.V in April( two teens w/us) we were in a one bedroom as well. I just closed my eyes to the clothes strewn all over the place. Poor maids!
We also did breakfast and lunch in as well. Saved a ton of money. At Marina Fiesta i found the kitchen to be a nice size as opposed to what i had in P.V. The kitchen at Marina Fiesta is well stocked with cooking supplies and dishes. There is a grocery store right outside the Marina, not far. The resort also has a small grocrey store that i found to be well stocked. When are you going?

I have the one bedroom unit from Dec. 19-26 and the studio Dec20-27. I heard from the Marina today and I am ever so pleased !!! She explained both units to me. I was confused also about the one bedroom unit. It is listed in my confirmation as 243-244 so I found out today that it is a "Master Lock off" It consits of two luxury suites. Her English wasn't too good but I believe they are separated by a door. One suite has the 2 queens and the other suite the King. So much for me worrying about a kitchen. There is a ful kitchen in each of those suites. I now have 2...........The stuido, which I booked for my brother in law, is a junior suite and has a kitchenette. All units are pool view. THere was something in the One bedroom explanation that I didn't understand when she detailed the unit. She explained about the lock off and then preceded to detail each luxury suite. At the end of each detailed description she wrote Phase II. At the end of the description for the Junior, she put terrace. That make any sense to you????
I just missed a bargain flight. Waiting for the in-laws to make up their minds. There was a deal on ONETRAVEL.COM from Bos. to Cabo..$524. It's now gone and all flights again are $700+. I was fuming !! But I guess I'll keep looking. What parts of Bos. and NH are you visiting?

Hi There,Sounds good. I did see a couple of those units types one day with my parents. My parents were thinking of upgrading to a two bedroom so we took a tour from a "timeshare hawker" there. My parents own a one bedroom but opted for the "two weeks" instead of one. Therefor they got the "studio"( i think it would be called that, same as picture at Orbitz) for a week then they ended up banking for the other week. They bought re-sale so they had never been there before. In hindsight, they wish they had used the one bedroom for a week instead of splitting it all up. They still have a week banked and for this year they did a trade for Aculpuco. Anyway- from what i remember you walked into the unit with a nice size living room, pretty good size bedroom, yes, full kitchen and the terrace is actually not a deck with railing but a full size terrace, stucco. It was a nice size.I cant remember what the two bedroom looked like i but i do remember these type units being really nice and spacious. Have you thought about asking them to send you floor plans to see how the units are layed out? Wow- you are spending Christmas there how FUN
Flying to Mexico can be expensive. It cost us $500 each from California last year. I use the "Fare Tracker" on Travelocity to watch and see if P.V is going on sale. I have time though.
We are arriving in Boston on Wed. around 5pm, staying at the Hilton @the airport untill Friday. Friday to Sunday we will be in Franconia, NH and then Cape Cod Sun. - Sat.( timeshare trade). How are the fall colors comming along? I hope they speed up!!

Hi, interesting you ask about the weather. It's freeeeeeeezing here this morning and my kids are mad at me 'cos I refuse to put on the heat so early!! They don't believe me that it's going up to the 70's today and will hit the 80's by Wed.
You should be hitting the East Coast right around Fall Foliage time. They usually give an extended forecast for that and name the peak foliage time for each area so I'll keep an eye and tell you their estimations. Are you laeaving this Wed. 22nd? If so you'll probably get the best of it in NH. Let me know if it's this week.
Still scouting for air fares. I am signed up at Travelocity. I can get them cheap right now if I want to leave the 19th, spend a night at an airport and leave for Cabo the 20th !!! ...same thing on return flight.......2 days. Crazy.I'll hold out another while. I truly want to kill my in-laws..........524 was such a good price. I had been watching and 722 was the best........that's what we are back to now again.

Have your in-laws pay for the difference if the price does not come down!!.We are paying $238 r.t.to Boston. Not bad! Yes, we are arriving this Wed. in Boston.and will be in N.H over the weekend. We have cooled down for a few days as well, even had a little rain yesterday a.m for a little. Not typical this time of year. It was cold in the a.m as well and my daughter(17) tries to turn the heater on.It's been unplugged all summer!!! It is staying that way while we are gone, otherwise it will never be off. She has not figured it out yet!!

Majella,

Don't worry, you'll have a great time. We stayed at Marina Fiesta last November in the same type of room(s). We too had the "lockout" type of setup: two connecting suites, one with a full kitchen. Even just one studio is spacious, with a large bed area, and a large sitting area with couch/table/chairs, and a large patio. The resort itself is nice, with a big pool and swim-up bar, and a great location right on the marina. If you have further questions, email me directly at shamulovesme at cox dot net, as I don't check this message board very often.
