Manual Antonio or Jaco-where to stay
Where should we stay in Manual Antonio for something really nice, with great beaches and alot of activities? Any idea how long the drive to Manual Antonio is from SJO?
Thanks for your help!

We stayed at Mango Moon in the King Upper Balcony Suite, and it was quite nice. Be sure to get this room because it has a private balcony.
Friends recently got back from Makanda by the Sea for their honeymoon, and they really liked it.
Also hear good things about Buena Vista Villas. Some people recommend Si Como No - seems a little more family oriented and also Costa Verde.
I'd say the drive is about 3 1/2 hours. Most of the hotels are not on the beach; they cluster on a hill with a beach down below that you'd have to hike to.

we stayed at costa verde in manuel antonio. very inexpensive hotel yet it's very unique. Nice restaurants, beautiful views, monkeys!!! Close to the national park and town. To get there we used interbus.
We stopped by Jaco on the way back for a few hours and i wasn't impressed. but One of my friends honeymooned in Villa Caletas in Jaco and she really loved it.

Hi, all - sorry to butt in, kk, but I'm curious about Jaco. I always hear everyone saying to avoid it. I've never been there - what exactly is wrong with Jaco? Is it that it's built up, or is there a lot of crime, or just not much to do? Just curious....Thanks for any info. you can provide.

volcanogirl - the beaches are not very clean and rough in most areas, the area can be unsavoury (drugs & prostitutes), etc. I'm sure it has it's charms here and there, but with so many other options available.....

Yes, these boards are so great - you can always find the answers you're looking for here. My husband and I were watching a travel channel special, and they went to Jaco of all places. I was kind of excited to see what it was all about, but what they showed was so limited that I couldn't get an overall feel for the place. Thanks for the info.! They also went to the Peace Lodge, and the first thing they showed was the toucan with the notch out of its beak, and we both instantly knew it was a CR special. kk, I hope you have a great time. Thanks to everyone else for good information as always.
