Liberia airport hotel suggestion?
We are planning a 9 night trip for a family of four (kids 15 and 19) arriving Liberia about 7:00 PM August 21. First stop after Liberia is either Tabacon or Monteverde by hired car. (Full trip is tentatively Tabacon, Monteverde and Tamarindo) Based on what I am reading here, I'm thinking that first and probably last night should be near the airport in Liberia. Price is not a major concern. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, Tabacon Hot Springs Resort is quoting $162 for the car from Liberia to the resort for the four of us. Does that sound about right?

We will be staying at the El Punto (info below) on June 9th. It is listed on line as a hostel, but got rave reviews and is reasonably priced. Mariana
is the contact reports are that she is very hospitable, she will be picking us up at the airport and our rental car will be delivered the following morning. We will have a room with 4 beds (there are four of us travelling) It is air conditioned and breakfast is included all for just over $80.00
Will give a report upon our return.

You'll find most hotels in Costa Rica clean and offering a very decent breakfast for fairly reasonable prices--less reasonable than a few years ago, but still not bad. We've stayed in luxe to very basic (mostly moderate) for years and have yet to feel the need to give anything a bad review. I guess we're pretty easy to please!
I think there is a Best Western in Liberia as well. Not sure. . .just wanted to say enjoy your trip! Your kids are going to love it!

Liberia is approx. 15 minutes from the Liberia airport. There are a number of good clean hotels here and as was mentioned the Best Western is a good choice. The other option is traveling an additional 10 minutes and staying on the beach in Playa Hermosa at the El Velero Hotel - http://www.costaricahotel.net/
or Villa del Sueno - http://www.villadelsueno.com/
$162 sounds about right for the transfer cost
