I an planning on a trip in March to the Manzanillo area south of PV. <BR> <BR>I have heard good things about the small fishing village of La Manzanilla. <BR> <BR>Can anyone give information on things to do there and where to stay? Preferably someplace that is quiet, secluded and with a view if possible! <BR> <BR>Thanks! <BR> <BR>Dave

I have had the great fortune of spending some time in La Manzanilla over the last several years. It is a wonderful little village that is a joy to visit. I agree with the earlier comments about Tenacatita - which is a must see when visiting the area. It is my favorite beach. If you are looking for a place to stay I would also recommend Villa Montana as referenced earlier. AS you can imagine in such a small village the number of places to stay is limited but I found the Villa to very clean and comfortable not to mention its specatular view. Have a wonderful time in March!

Just got back and had a great time at Villa Montaņa in the village of La Manzanilla, 1/2 hr. north fo the Manzanillo airport! Went on a fishing trip in an open panga and went on a kayak-snorkeling trip with an outfitter working in the area this winter. Also we went snorkeling over at the village of Tenacatita and visited Barra de Navidad, Melaque, and San Patricio. The Bay of Tenacatita is spectacular! <BR> <BR>Adios!

Wondering how good the fishing and kayaking would be on the Bay of Tenacatita! I'm interested in stayng in La Manzanilla somewhere and doing kayak day trips and a few fishing trips while there. Any ideas?

The villge of La Manzanilla is a jewel waiting to be discovered, sitting on the pristine Bay of Tenacatita on the Costa Alegre "Happy Coast" of southwestern mainland Mexico. <BR> <BR>A REAL workinig fishing village, warts and all! Not for tourists at all (like Gary)who put up the negative post(not sure why). <BR> <BR>These areas, like every where in rural Mexico, are for the the adventuresome traveler (not tourists looking for discos, bars on every corner, shopping malls, and where to eat-eat- and eat!!). <BR> <BR>Nothing to do in La Manzanilla but; swim, fish, snorkel, hike, mt. bike, kayak, birdwatch, star gaze, and interact with the locals (cultural immersion). <BR> <BR>Unfortunately Mr. Gary, I quess, doesn't like to do those types of things. If you don't either, than Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Manzanillo, and Huatulco are for YOU!!!!! <BR> <BR>Leave Real Mexico to those adventurous souls seeking such mundane pleasures! <BR> <BR>End of rant! <BR> <BR>Cordially; <BR> <BR>Anna (long time visitor to LAM)

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in '96 in the village of La Manzanilla. The locals were very friendly, walks on the 3 miles of beach front were just what we were looking for. The place we stayed at was secluded and private which was ideal for our honeymoon. We are planning a five year anniversary return in 2001. <BR> <BR>Al

Went on a fishing trip on the Bay of Tenacatita last year and caught more Dorado than I could possibly eat. So I gave them away to the locals. A real quick way to make friends in a small fishing village. My favorite, Dorado a la Plancha! <BR> <BR>Hasta Luego!

I was in La Manzanilla 3 years ago and found the village quaint, the beach very user friendly, and the sunsets the best. A very quiet village suited for the those not looking for night life. Rather some piece and quiet in an idylic setting. I enjoyed the area a lot!
