Jaguar Reef Lodge

We plan to stay at the Jaguar Reef Lodge in Belize during this March. Previously, we saw both positive and some negative comments about the Lodge. However, we understand that there is new management at the Lodge and we wonder if anyone has updated information about Juguar Reef Lodge.

Thanks,

Bruce Rocheleau

We stayed there last March and we did not experience anything special. For the same price you could find more friendly place, cleaner dinning room and where you won't be charged for the smallest extras. My opinion: look for another place.

Bruce: We were there November 1998. It was a nice place with alot of character. Unfortunately, the bugs (no see ums are HORRIBLE!!!) We were infested!! We payed extra in our room to have air conditioning to kill them. I wore sweats and turtlenecks the entire time. It is such a shame because it is a neat place and Hopkins Village is really nice to visit. Good luck!

I know I asked this before but cannot remember the answer.

Is the Jaguar Reef and the Jaguar Paw one and the same?

We stayed at the Jaguar Paw and while really expensive found it to be a lovely place.

I think Jaguar Reef may be a different place.

We stayed at Jaguar Reef Lodge for the second time last March and had a wonderful holiday! We shopped around and found Jaguar Reef the best deal for a 'high end' Lodge. Believe me you would not want to stay in some of the other hotels we saw in the area.

I cannot agree with these posts as this was very different from our experience which could not have been better! The facility was extremely clean the staff were excellent and the tours and meals were great. They have some of the best tour guides we have yet to encounter in our travels, extremely knowledgable and friendly, very accommodating for the kids as well.

We did encounter a few bugs in the Jaguar reserve during one of our hikes but had no problem with them while at the Lodge itself.

We loved Jaguar reef so much we can't wait to go back again, which is unusual for us as we don't normally repeat travel destinations. I would not hesitate to recommend Jaguar Reef to anyone!
