Is there a chaa-creek type of place in Costa Rica?
We splurged a couple years ago and went to chaa creek in Belize with our family of five. We had a wonderful time and loved the villas, food and service. The excursions were absolutely awesome. We have added a new son-in-law and a baby, and are planning a trip to Costa Rica next spring. Can Anyone recommend a wonderful Eco-resort that is easily accessible from the airport in Liberia? We are looking at arenal area and Nicoya peninsula.

I don't know if these count as eco-resorts, but since it sounds like you might be looking for upscale properties, we really enjoyed the Springs Resort and Spa. Nayara is nice too, but the grounds are small. If you want jungly, the Lost Iguana is fun, sort of more rustic, but still nice. These are all in the Arenal area.

Most of the Chaa Creek type places (luxury ecolodges in rainforest) would be found in the South/Central Pacific with a few on the Caribbean side. Luxury places tend to be concentrated in beach areas for the Liberia/Guanacaste area. Liberia/Guanacaste is much drier than other areas, so not a jungly rainforest like wetter areas.

We've kind of avoided the area for that reason. I've asked some of our guides about their favorite areas, and they said that since we like lush jungly places it wouldn't appeal to us as much. I have always wanted to go to Casa Chameleon though.

Have known and worked with Eliot for many yrs and send anyone asking me about CR to him, as well as friends and family. I don't book CR, but whoever I sent to him, as thanked me, including people who were my clients in Belize and wanted a similar experience to working with me. They all were grateful to find Eliot.
