Is Panama "Expensive?"
We're thinking about taking a trip to Panama from the U.S. This might be a subjective question, but is Panama an inexpensive place for tourists? I know they use American dollars there but do not know if meals and hotels, etc. are relatively cheap like Argentina?

Hi Kennedy, Panama can accommodate to anyone's needs, there are luxury hotels and some affordable hostal's.
Food and transportation is cheaper than the US.
Example, I took my girlfriend to dinner in San Valentines:
2 cups of champagne
1 bottle of Merlot
2 entrances
2 main dishes
2 desserts
Service tip
All of it in 110.00 in one of the new best restaurants on the city of Panama. A meal like that would have cost 2 times as much in the US.
Enjoy Panama

I felt the prices were fairly typical to the U.S. prices. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel in Panama City and mostly walked to restaurants in the area. I think the other Central American countries are generally cheaper than Panama. I have a blog that reports on my Panama trip. It has photos of the food, sights, and lists some prices.

In Panama City, prices are similar to the US. However, we had excellent dinners and lunches that were very reasonably priced. One was just around the corner from the Marriott in which nonstop stayed. It was just an open sit-down storefront (a bar at night) with terrific food for lunch for $4.65 a piece and it was a full service with beverages, a typical comida of soup, meat and rice and dessert.
Go out at lunch and follow the business suits to their favorite places.
