Is Club Med worth the Money!!!

Hi, as a single female looking to travel with another female to club med in March I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is worth going to. We are trying to decide between Playa Blanca and Cancun. Our most important concerns are is it safe and fun. Please let us know asap as we are going to book our tickets in 3 days and have to know what we are getting into.

Thanks, Leanne

I've been twice to a Club Med -- Cancun and Ixtapa!! Both were a real blast...the only thing that I would warn you about is the cost of drinks. They sell you beads which you trade for drinks (in other words you're not really sure what you're spending!). Be prepared to spend more $$ on your drinks. You are provided with wine and beer for lunch and dinner. If you're not a big drinker this isn't a problem. Remember that this also includes non-alcoholic drinks - which may affect your decision. I had a really good time in Ixtapa but I found Cancun kind of snobby! If I had it to do again I'd try and book the last minute deal....I was looking at Jan. and it was 1299 Canadian but they tell you a week ahead where you'll be going. The food is AMAZING!! I have wonderful memories of both holidays and you'd have to be "dead" not to have a good time!

I've also been to Jack Tar in the Dominican Republic - I've heard this referred to as a "Poor man's Club Med" which would be fairly accurate. The food is not as good (instead of 5 star plus I'd say 3 to 4) but it is hard to beat for the price difference... The fun was pretty much the same!
