Intimate Resort After Royal Hideaway Trip

Hey all!

My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary and spending a week at Royal Hideaway at the end of May of this year.

After Royal Hideaway, we would like to spend 3 or 4 nights at another resort known for it's intimacy. I was really interested in the KaiLuum II resort, however there is no availability for 4 nights starting on June 2nd.

So does anyone have any similar recommendations for our 2nd vacation after the RH? Looking for romantic, beach front cabinas or similar, nice beach, good food, lotsa candles, and reasonably priced. We paid enough for RH, so looking to tone down on this one.

Also, location. Somewhere that won't be too far from the Royal Hideaway so our transfer can be smooth. We are flying out of Cancun, so I guess maybe a location that is at most 1.5 hours from the Cancun airport. Don't want too much drive time on the day we leave

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

Rocker68,
I've been looking into Al Cielo on Xpu-Ha beach for a trip next year. It sounds like it might be what you are looking for. You can see it on Different World and Loco Gringo. There are no reviews of it on tripadvisor, but there are a few positive remarks here on this forum.

Thanks Bill!

Sounds like an interesting option. Found a little info about them, but was unable to find their official website. Do you happen to have the direct link, that is if they do have an official website?

Thanks again!

I think it's alcielohotel.com

differentworld.com books for them and they have better pictures anyway.

Hi - ok, this is not "close" to RH, but it's not "far" either.

How about a cab/van up to the Gran Puerto outside the hotel zone of Cancun (what, 30 minute drive or so) - hop the new fast ferry over to Isla Mujeres - and stay at Secreto for 4 nights.

you can also read about it on differentworld's website.

Thanks so much Gingele, Bill, and Pepper.
Hotel Secreto looks very intriguing. However, reading comments on a few websites the downside is the rocky beach and *possibly* excessive noise.

We will be leaving royal hideaway and the beach isn't the best there either from what I gather, so maybe this 2nd location can feature an awesome beach and more seclusion where quietness is pretty much a sure thing. If there is such a place?

Keep the recommendations coming please! Haven't ruled out Secreto yet, but would like more recs if possible.

Thanks again all!
Chris

The only other places I can think of are in Tulum and it sounds like you don't want to be that far from the airport.

Rocker68,
Sorry I can't answer your question. But you are going to love R/H. My husband and I went there 2 years ago and didn't leave the resort one time.

Casa de Agua looks awesome, thanks Frankie! You all are great with these good recommendations! And Cooper, we can't wait for the Royal Hideaway

Hope we enjoy it as much as you did, and I have no doubt we will!

I also recommend Shangri-La Caribe, although it might not be as intimate and secluded as you may like, but definitely a much nicer beach than Royal Hideaway, quieter and less crowded, great barefoot/tropical/Mexican ambience. A few years ago we combined four days at SLC with three at RH, it was a perfect combination for us and only a short cab ride between resorts. SLC is a great value.

Well update on current considerations. Hotel Secreto, Villa Rolandi, Secrets Excellence, and Ceiba del Mar.

Tough choices, but so far I believe Rolandi gets our early vote. Rooms seem a bit nicer compared to Secreto, but this is just my observation from pictures provided by them. Not first hand experience. Ceiba del Mar really needs to provide more room info and a larger variety of room pictures. During my trip research, I am really surprised how many websites fail to provide some of the most important info, detailed and clear pics of THE ROOM!

Casa de Agua looks very nice, however, only bottom rooms are available for our dates. Heard walls are very thin there as well.

So now it's basically between Secrets and Rolandi for now but things can change. Love the rooms at both these places. The excellence club royal suite at secrets and the Spa menu at Secrets looks incredible. Rolandi has no "spa" per say, but do provide massage services, facials, etc....I guess these are done on the beach or room. Emailed for more info...

Pepper, or anyone, about how far is Tulum from the airport or from RH for that matter?

Thanks again all.

I think the beach at Rolandi is better than most on Isla. That would be my choice.

You can get to Tulum from Royal Hideaway in about 45 minutes or less.

For some of these places, the best places to look at their rooms is on differentworld.com or locogringo.com.

Villa Rolandi looks wonderful, although it is a bit of a trip back to Cancun airport by ferry...easily done, just may be more than the l.5 hour you mentioned.

Decision made. Was impressed with the Excellence Club Junior Suite Swim-Out room at Secrets Excellence in Cancun. It doesn't fulfill all my original requirements but it should suit us just fine!

Little disappointed in the initial email communication with Secrets so I hope the service there is better than our very first impressions!

Thanks again everyone, and will post trip reports when we return!!
