I guess I'm just curious where are you from!!!!!!
I have seen other threads on the European site in regards to where people live! It appears that this site gets a lot of American posters? I guess the post that sparked my curiosity was "what did you do this weekend"! I think everyone or most everyone was from the States. I live in Scottsdale Arizona. My wife and I love to travel, most people ask why we would want to spend money leaving such a beautiful state, a great city that's fun, exciting and vibrant! Why? It's our passion for new experiences, culture, architecture, food, history and mostly the wonderful people we meet when traveling. So where do you live and what's your excuse or passion. Also, why do so few post here vs. Europe? I think I already know the answer but what's your take!!!!! Again just curious

Toronto, Canada. I'm the planner and my husband pretty well goes along with where I take him! My first trip out of North America was 30 years ago - I went backpacking in England for 2 weeks and Greece for 4 weeks. Ever since then, I've loved to travel. Mexico is my favourite destination - we've been to many places in Mexico - it's a big country, and if we go in February or March, it usually means we miss the dreary weather in Toronto. But we just got back from a week in Paris (a place I hadn't visited in 28 years). I'm always planning ahead. We've got a trip planned for February, but not sure where we'll go next summer. I get 5 weeks vacation / year - definitely not enough time for all my plans!

I live in the country outside of The Dalles, a small town in north central Oregon on the Columbia River. It's a geographically gorgeous area (I see the river, Mt. Adams in Washington and Mt. Hood in Oregon from my windows) and receives less than 12" of a rain a year. We love to play in this area, too, but Central America has gotten under my skin. In the 80's we traveled to Guatemala to pick up our son, Carlos. So far we've been to Guatemala 5 times (heading back this summer), Belize once, and Honduras twice. We're both teachers and I'm working on my Spanish so I'm planning 2-3 weeks in a Spanish school (plus exploring) every summer for as long as I'm able. Happy trails!

I love Mexico, specifically Puerto Vallarta. I also travel regularly to Hawaii and Europe, but PV holds a special place in my heart.
I think the lack of postings here doesn't necessarily reflect less people on earth who love Latin America, rather the demographics of Fodor's forum. I believe it is more known for Europe advice, and does draw mostly American and Canadian posters.
If you look at other websites say the forum on Lonely Planet, called The Thorn Tree, there the Mexico and South American branches are extremely active. Different travel styles and different types of posters participating.

I'm from Dublin, Ireland. Have been posting on the Europe forum for a few years now, but starting posting here when I was planning my trip to Peru. Seems to me like most on the Latin America board are American and not many venture further than Mexico! My experience in Peru confirmed this - very few Americans apart from some in Cusco.

I'm from NJ, USA. Why do I post here instead of the European site? Mostly b/c I'm not from Europe. I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica and I think there are more tourists to CR from North America then Europe - so why not look at the North American site.

Toronto, Canada.
My passions include nature , art and music and travel has taken me wonderful places to enjoy all of these.
Have not travelled as much as many of the posters here but genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences.
My favourite travel places are Atlantic Canada, and Costa Rica.

My wife and I split our year between Buenos Aires and Punta del Este, Uruguay -- except for the time spent traveling. I'm American now a permanent resident of Uruguay, she's tri-national (Argentinean by birth, also citizen of US and Uruguay). We have both traveled all our lives, several times per year, usually to Europe in the past but now more just around beautiful Argentina. Argentina simply offers everything almost any traveler could ever want. We're in Jujuy right now for a wedding, having spent 12 days driving from BA through Cordoba, Tucuman, and Salta. We've seen cosmopolitan cities, mountain rain forests, deserts like Arizona, rolling hills like Virginia and North Carolina, mountain pastures indistinguishable from Scotland, painted deserts and painted mountains, vineyards, spas the equal of any in Europe, you name it. My passion is Argentina, and I've had the pleasure of re-introducing my wife, a voluntary political exile for over 30 years, to her lovely home country.

Sacramento, CA. A beautiful spot between the lively San Francisco Bay and fabulous Lake Tahoe. I have traveled many times to Europe and loved every trip. I especially like the old palaces, the architecture and the history. However in today's world, I feel safer in Mexico. Times have changed, I am older and like the warmer climate as well. Also the shorter plane rides to get to Puerto Vallarta are a plus compared to going over the Atlantic via coach fare.

I'm a teacher in Littleton, Colorado. We've been going down to Playa Del Carmen for seven years and purchased there last year. I grew up in New York on the water and miss it. The water in Playa is so much nicer.

Hi Y'all. I live in rural North Carolina near the birthplace of Andy Griffith, the real Mayberry . I spent part of my youth in Panama and have always loved the Latin cultures. I have visited Mexico, Panama and Peru in the last five years. At the end of this month I will be making a long awaited trip to Argentina. I am also planning two trips to Europe, one to Bermuda and several in the USA so I frequent all the forums. Love to travel, love to talk travel.

Thanks for all the great reply! I guess I need to travel to Mexico more often. We normally travel abroad where we have a wonderful country so near. I will be going to Cancun in January for some R&R thanks to the wife's company trip. Great traveling
