Huatulco or Ixtapa

We are planning to go back to the Pacific coast area next year from mid-November to mid-December. Last year we were in Puerto Vallarta but we wish to explore a different region. We are wondering what area would be best: Huatulco or Ixtapa? We are looking for a quiet spot on a nice beach and we wish to be far from big crowds as well as street noise.

What is nice about Ixtapa? The beach seems to be quite nice.

Best hing about Ixtapa is it's only a 10 minute bus/cab ride from Zihuatanejo with dozens of great restaurants, stores, a Mercado plus a most picturesque bay.
Ixtapa is a ring of mostly medium size hotels a nice shopping area, a great bike/jogging trail but rough water, decent cafes that are hurting since almost all hotels are now AI unlike the Zihua ones.

Thank you for your reply to my request. As Canadians flying from Ottawa, it is more convenient to fly to Huatulco as there are direct flights from Toronto. Ixtapa is not as convenient. Have you been to Huatulco? It seems more remote and much less populated than Ixtapa.

I was in Huatulco in January and it was 100F almost everyday.

The beach is nice as is the town and shopping area in the old town square.

Af stewbear mentiond with Ixtapa you sort of get 2 for 1

The tourist place of Ixtapa and the quait Zihautanejo.

We have finally decided to go for Ixtapa. We are looking at accommodations and there are not many resorts on the beach except for the Bay View Grand Resort in Ixtapa. If we would like to stay in Zihuatanejo there is even less and the rates are often very high. Any recommendations on condos at an affordable rate of $200 per night or less. Since we are going for a month we would try to get a condo at around $3500 per month.

Not sure where you are looking but I know of decent, clean, secure( not fancy) off beach apartments with kitchen, private bath Internet, cable & a/c for around $400 a month in Zihua.
