How long will it take to get to Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort from San Jose??

We are renting a 4WD and plan on driving from San Jose airport in the early a.m. to go to the Paradisus Playa Conchal resort for just two nights. The first day I just want to stay in San Jose (Marriott) just in case our plane is delayed and we don't get in until late (I don't want to travel at night). Then I booked the last night in San Jose again so we can get up in the morning and just go to the San Jose airport. What about a small plane to go to th resort. Is that possible? Still so unsure of how to do this. Only four nights in Costa Rica but want to make the most of it. Any suggestions? We'll be going there at the end of August for our Anniversary.

The Paradisus is about a 5 hour drive from San Jose. With a little luck, you might make it in 4.5! Check in isn't until 2:00 in the afternoon, but, if you arrive and they have a room ready, they will allow early check in. (At least that has been our experience). We have stayed here several times for just 2 or 3 nights. Try to leave San Jose by 7:00 in the a.m. Also, check out is 12:00 noon, that gives you good time to drive back to San Jose before dark. Have fun!

By the way, you can fly to Tamarindo (15 min from Paradisus), but we haven't done this and I don't know the logistics or flight times. Check the Sansa domestic airline schedule online and see what they have. It will be a beautiful drive in August when everything is even greener than usual.

Glad you found the post. Considering your time contraints, I really can't think of any tours that would be appropriate. Others might could help. When at Conchal, we like to just enjoy the resort. However, once you are there, you might hear of something that interests you. You might enjoy the 15 minute drive to Playa Tamarindo just to check out the shops and restaurants (perhaps for part of the afternoon). It is an interesting place. Conchal has one of the nicer beaches in Costa Rica. The shows in the evening are generally very good. We know several on staff here, especially some of the dancers and entertainment crew. They are quite professional and work very hard. The band that plays in the teatro in the evenings (around 8:00) also performs poolside near the swim up bar in the early afternoon. They are enjoyable and fun to listen to. Have a great time and Happy Anniversary!

There is a half day canopy tour in Tamarindo that is great fun. You leave the resort around 7am and are back by 12-1:00 pm so you don't loose the whole day. We loved it and would highly recommend it. Otherwise, like Shillmac said, hang at the resort, it is absolutely beautiful with more than enough to do (including doing nothing).
