Go to trip advisor.com it originally was a first class hotel however some of the reviews were no so good. My husband and I have been going to P. Vallarta for 15yrs Check out the Sheraton & the Camino Real they are all very nice. and they also have better locations than the Marriott. Good Luck if I can help please ask We are also going at the end of March staying at the Sheraton, if your plans are already made then I am sure the Marriott will be fine.

I stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. It's a beautiful resort with great service. Wonderful pool area. Not a single complaint. Have fun!

The Marriott Casamagna in PVR is a *wonderful* hotel -- very service oriented. While I thought their pool wasn't nearly as nice as nearby Velas Vallarta, the room quality was better.

Have fun!

I disagree with Butsey. Marriott is near (walking distance) the lovely Marina where you can venture off to visit little shops and a variety of restaurants. For Italian try Porta Bello and for steaks try Buenos Aires.
You can also hop on the local bus to ride into the downtown area. Buses are in front of hotel after you walk totally off the hotel grounds. Buses are very cheap and you ride with the locals which I love. Then of course cabs are available and are not expensive. Buses stop running at 10:00 pm so take a cab back in the evening. My teenagers and grown daughter always comes with us and there only want to stay on the Marina near the Marriott and they are never bored.

Just returned from spending a great week at the Marriott. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the facilities are excellent.
As mentioned by others, the location is in the marina area. The marina is beautiful; restaurants and shops abound. We ate most of our breakfasts there outside near the water for under $10 for two people.
Downtown PV is either a $.40 bus ride or a $4.00 cab ride. Cab takes about 15 mins, bus longer with all the stops. We did use the bus one evening and it was a great experience.
Hotel is comprised of two large buildings and all rooms have balconies. If you have an oceanview room the building which is NOT the one where the main desk is, doesn't get sun in the afternoon.
I have pictures of the Marriott from my digitial camera if you are interested, just list your email address.
Enjoy!!

I stayed at Casa Magna Marriott (just one night when Alaska planes couldn't get out) and it was lovely. I usually stay in much less expensive places downtown, so the one night is not a negative comment.

The pool area was huge and beautiful. The rooms standard Marriott style but mine looked out over the ocean with palm trees wavin' in the breeze. I only ate two meals there but the food was fine, although of course more expensive than many other independent local restaurants around town.

It's in The Marina which is 10-15 mins. bus or taxi from town out near the airport. I saw in another post you were actually considering Nuevo, so the Marina is definitely a more convenient location for enjoying downtown that that!
