how come no one will answer about Makanda?

I just wanted to ask about a couple of hotels in CR for our trip in April. I posted one message but no replies. I could really use some advice. I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at Makanda or La mariposa and what you think of these hotels to stay at with my 3 daughters 19, 18, and 16. Thanks

You posted a question on Sunday morning, and you are upset that no one has answered in less than 7 hours?

Since you are new here, may I tell you that there are many people anxious to answer questions, but they first have to read them, so give them time. And more people are online on weekdays, possibly when they have nothing to do while at work or when the kids are at school.

Makanda is a great resort but they are geared more for couples, honeymooners etc. and there is an adult only policy. I'm not sure what the "age" break is for "adult" at Makanda. Here's some more info on their "adult policy" http://www.makanda.com/EN/costarica/...lts-only.phtml Personally, I think Mariposa is resting a bit on their laurels of days ago. I think a better choice for your group is Costa Verde or Villas Nicolas. I've read that Issimo Suites is good also but haven't any first hand knowledge. Lisa in Manuel Antonio

I certainly agree, this forum is much more active weekdays, at least the Costa Rica section.

Sorry, I can't answer your question about Makanda.

But can give some advice:

Have you searched using the search function? Just type in Makanda and it will bring up all discussions with the word Makanda.

Also, I can't remember a recent post from someone staying at Makanda, possibly due to my lack of interest. But it just could be that no one is responding because no one that is frequenting this forum has stayed at Makanda.

I understand your need to get it done! But be patient, check back and try the search function..

Also try other forums--www.tripadvisor.com is usually quite active.

Upset? No. Just seeing that many inquiries have back and forth messages almost imnmediate. My time frame is getting slim to book at some of the hotels I was looking at. So Thanks for all the input and Jed I just love the little faces! I will take the advice about weekdays except I usually have more time on the weekends to search for info. Thanks again, I believe we have settled for Makanda.

LOL , Indeed I did . Whew ! Thought I was loosin' it !! I shall take the oppurtunity to highjack a thread .... Lisa , we might not see you this year ( sad face ) . We were unable to get ahold of last minute tickets , for this week . Actually departing today , there WAS an amazing deal but we could not take the kids out of school (154.00 PP plus taxes ). Sooo .... we managed to snatch up tickets to Puerto Vallarta , where we shall take a water taxi to Yelapa . There we will stay at www.hotel-lagunita.com . I think it will be quite an expeirence for the children . I don't want to think I cant see Costa rica this year , so I will just say " you never know " !! Tried to make it to Panama as well , but the dates didn't match up . Oh well ! ( thanx to those who helped ) Apologies to taking over the post , at least it will bring it to the top !
