Hello,
I am planning a 7 day trip to Costa Rica in August. Based on the previous recommendations on this forum, I would like to spend half of that time in Arenal and half in Manuel Antonio, and am now looking to book hotels. I would like to spend less than $125 per night, and if possible would like to be within walking distance of restaurants (but still feel like I am in Costa Rica so would like to have some nature). Do you have any recommendations? I was looking at the Falls Resort in Manuel Antonio, and perhaps the Volcano Garden and Lodge in Arenal. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

You can look at Hotel Villabosque. It is close to the beach and park. There is a pool, a/c, cable and they serve a good breakfast. Clean hotel in a good location.
I agree about Hotel Mountain Paradise. Good value. Also, Arenal Lodge is having a buy two, get a third night free promotion. Beautiful lodge, with a great view. But it is a little inconveniently located. So you should have a car.
Hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer any more advice.

In Arenal, we stayed at Lomas del Volcan. It was a beautiful place with little cabins almost right at the base of the volcano. A beautiful breakfast is included in the price.
If you do stay there, each cabin is numbered like house numbers. I would highly recommend staying in a cabin that is numbered in the 5's, such as 502. These have a lovely setting and are the closest to the volcano.

La Fortuna has alot of fun restaurants
Restaurants in Costa Rica are not something I would plan a trip around.
Better to go for a convenient location near beach or with an on site forest reserve and take a taxi if you must eat off site, in my opinion.
Everyone complains about the Arenal Obs Lodge food but I thought the breakfast was great and dinner wasn't bad either. I recommend it.
