Hotel Choices -Lake Atitlan

Too many choices about Lake Atitlan-any suggestions? or will we be ok with one of these - La Casa del Mundo, Vulcano Lodge or Lomas de Tzununa. Pros and cons of these places to stay?

We have stayed at 2 of your choices, Vulcano Lodge and Lomas, and have been to La Casa Del Mundo. Lomas has the best views on the lake of any hotel. Its perched high on a hill (400 steps to it) and is the most isolated of the 3 hotels, about a 20 minute walk to the very small village of Tzununa. Lomas has a small pool and the food is very good. All the rooms are simple but spacious with wonderful views of the lake. Vulcano Lodge and Casa del Mundo are in the village of Jaibalito. While Vulcano doesn't have the views, it is one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed. The grounds are beautiful and the food is some of the best you will find on the lake. Its a great place to kick back and relax. I have only been to Casa del Mundo and it looked nice but I can't comment on the food .

We stayed at Lomas for 4 nights in December. It was a high point of our trip - we absolutely loved it. Yes, it's more isolated and it's a lot of steps up to the hotel from the lake, but it was wonderful. I'd stay there again any time.

We had considered Vulcano Lodge - it sounded very nice, but we wanted the views.

Really the only room at Vulcano Lodge with a lake view is their second story suite, which also has two bedrooms. If that is the room you have there will be a limited view of the lake and volcanos.
