Honeymoon in Costa Rica

My fiance and I are planning to be married and honey moon in Costa Rica this September. We have purchased a package through GoGo travel and will be visiting San Jose, Manuel Antonio, Arenal, and Monteverde. Does anyone have any anecdotal information on these areas or off the beaten path spots to visit on the way? How about the hotel El Parador--we'll be married there. How is the weather during the rainy season? I'd appreciate the insight!

congratulations, I also am getting married the end of August (here in USA) then honeymoon in Costa Rica, going to Manuel Antonio (Bungalows Tulemar or Si Como No) also visit the Arenal volcano and hot springs, Monteverde cloud forest, and hope to go whitewater rafting. I am wondering...how much does it rain at that time of year (end of Aug-early Sept)
everyday, but at what time amnd for how long? 2 minutes, 20 minutes, or 2 hrs?

Hello, and congratulations to you, too! I have never been to Costa Rica before, but from what I have read, it sounds like it rains there for an hour or two every afternoon--but this depends upon which area of the country you are in (Fodor's 98). I have also read that there is less rainfall from July-September than during the rest of the rainy season and that the country has been drier than usual due to El Nino. That is good for us! I am looking forward to seeing all of the plants in bloom and have also read that you can see more animals at this time of year as opposed to the dry season. Hope you have a great trip!

Hi-have been to C.R. twice—although we didn’t stay there we have heard raves about Is Como No—
[email protected]

it looks very romantic-write to Costa Rica Board of Tourism in U.S.

Just got back from C.R. It rained six out of nine days, mostly early afternoon for a couple of hours. Do your outdoor stuff in the morning and shop or visit museums in the afternoon.

Arenal is a must. Be sure to spend an afternoon in the hot springs at Tabacon watching Volcan Arenal smoke.

We rafted the Reventazon one day with Adventuras Naturales. Great trip, good company to work with.

Just returned from C.R. and for your first night in or last night out I'd recommend that you stay at the Vista Del Valle Plantation Inn. Their web page is; <http://www.vistadelvalle.com> The place is even better than the pictures (and they really good). They have luxorious private villas, an incredible staff, pool, jacuzzi, acres of botanical tropical gardens, a 3700 acre private nature preserve with trails to a 300ft waterfall. They pick up and deliver to the airport (20 minutes) and breakfast is included. They made me feel like family. You'll only wish you stayed longer if you only book 1 nights stay.
