Help with planning our trip

I am looking for some help and suggestions, as we have 2 weeks booked to Costa Rica the beginning of February. These are our thoughts about where to spend the 2 weeks, but I am looking for your suggestions.

2 days in San Jose ( we arrive late, so only 1 full day to explore the city)
2 days La Fortuna / Arenal area
5-7 days in Manuel Antonio

There are a few days to play with, so was wondering if its worth going to the Caribbean side also, and if you suggest this, how would you work it into the itinerary?

We need to end up back in San Jose to leave from.

Thank you for any help you may offer.

Thats plenty of time for SJ. How about a night or so in Monteverde? Its not that far from Arenal. You have time for the east coast, so give it a try. I have heard mixed reviews. If you can, look up a lady named Shillmac on this forum; she has been there before and can provide a good report. Good luck and have fun!

Sure, you have plenty of time for the Carribean, but if you are going to Manuel Antonio, it's a matter of how much beach time you want.

Monteverde for a day or 2 is another option, as dncee noted.

The Osa Pen. is wonderful during February. Last year we split a week between Bosque del Cabo and Iguana Lodge - enjoyed both very much.

There's lots of rain in the Caribbean in Jan & February -- not the best time to go.
